Although they link to a BS chart, they do recommend going by feel. All this does is increase casino revenue in the long run. I thought the members here would get a kick out of it, considering we would not listen to such nonsense.

It always depends on what your goals are. Ace, you are an AP, and going to the casino playing BJ is your job. I was at a friendly Tiles table yesterday, and twice deviated from 'Basic strategy' after showing my tiles, and having pleasant discussion with the table. I won one, then on the last hand of the day, as time was running short, I split 11's to have a better chance of winning, but also a better chance of losing, rather than having the more likely push. I told the lady I was with 'we are here to gamble', and we knew it was technically the wrong play from an EV point of view. But I was 'paying' for that excitement, the hope that this 'bad' play would work out, and despite turning a push into a loss, it was positve EV for me, not in a dollars sense, but in a 'why I go to a casino' sense.
I really don't think CET is 'wrong' in posting that blog. If you really think about it, should their blog on roulette say 'never play roulette', or their blog on the slots say 'never play the slots', etc....

Watch how fast the dealer gets the floor's attention when you split tens.
I feel like doing it just for the entertainment factor of showing them a copy of that blog and seeing their reaction!

Yes.
Actually the recommendation to feel free to deviate and enjoy what you are doing is quite proper for an in-house organ. Many times I'll deviate and if I win, I get some sort of "table approval" for having been particularly smart or particularly lucky. No one wants to think of themselves as a trained monkey sitting their slavishly playing Basic Strategy.Quote: aceofspadesSo the official blog of Caesars Entertainment properties recommends deviating from BS (Basic Strategy)
I once even had an impulse to call out a warning: "Careful, that next card is a nine." The next player declined to hit but the subsequent player did hit and the next card was indeed a nine which had everyone at the table wondering about me.
I'll admit though that most deviations from Basic Strategy are money losers, but many times the optimal BS and the next-best option are not all that far apart mathematically so sometimes its best to just have fun and see what happens.

I am printing out a copy for when I got LV in a few weeks!

Being overly generous, there are only 8 if you stack them...
