I've been playing VP seriously for about a year and a half now, when I can, which is about 3-4 trips a year. Last week I was on a cruise on the Carnival Sensation, playing their lousy 6/5 JoB, and then this happened...
My first royal! It was even a progressive for nearly $1150! Woot!

Congrats again! Ha, my first one was ALSO spades =P. That seems to be the perfect amount to win too!! No hand pay under $1200, and no taxes ;).

Just a question had it been dollars and paid $4000+ do you pay taxes if the ship is outside US waters?

The only suit I do NOT have is spades, so I do get a little more jealous of spade royal pics...lol

Congrats. Although you should be able to throw an employee or the machine overboard after every session. 6/5 is just awful.

Wow, really? That would surprise me since they were in international waters. A company I do work for does not issue any tax forms when they are at sea.

On my first Royal which was in 2004 I held three to Royal also, but it was in clubs, and like you, was a progressive. $1076. This was at the Virgin River in Mesquite, NV.
My girlfriend Chris was playing a dollar machine and was dealt a Royal at an Indian casino in Palm Springs, California. She didn't know that tipping was customary so she didn't. This was in about 2008.
I'm trying to teach her basic strategy because we might go to Vegas in early September.
