tringlomane: I will wong crane vending machines at the arcade if they are +EV! Maybe. If the mailers are good. 😃
I'm glad I'm not the only one! "That bear just needs a slight adjustment and it's easy pickens...$1.00, two attempts, and I got this!"
In my defense, I have two kids, five and two, so they like stuffed animals. Not in my defense, I did it even when I didn't have kids, or nieces/nephews, or spent any considerable time around kids. It was +EV, what can you do? I'd usually just see a kid somewhere in the store, or maybe out in the parking lot with his/her parent, or a kid losing on a different machine, "Do you like this Pittsburgh Pirates doll? Cool, here you go kid!"

I'll be happy winning half as many cars as you!

Taking your advice on this one.

The depreciating asset?
I know you're kidding, just putting my 2 cents in. Congratulations, chaunceyb3!
Quote: chaunceyb3Update on the baccarat whale: he now has won 5 drawings.
I'm very happy for you. Have any of the entrants cried foul and said that there should be one win per person? Of course the person with the most entries has risked and probably lost the most money.
Did you have to be present to win? If not was there a time limit to claim the prize? Any idea how many people were eligible?

I didn't hear a single complaint about there being multiple winners. The promotion clearly stated you could "win some" or even "win all 48 cars".
Yes, you had to be present to win, and had 5 minutes to claim your prize. If unclaimed, another entry will be drawn. They also announced 2 minute and 1 minute warnings.
Here are some unofficial numbers from a Revel marketing rep:
Average number of entries for the 24 drawings Thu/Fri: 16,000.
Sat/Sun: 36,000.
Number of unclaimed prizes by day:
Thursday 2
Friday 6
Saturday 5 (the 5PM drawing had 4 no-shows)
Sunday 7
Number of unique winners: 41.
I had 83 entries by the way.
Bad (b)eat story: A gentleman was having lunch at Luke Palladino's restaurant. His name was called. The PA system either wasn't loud enough or had malfunctioned inside the restaurant. He missed claiming his prize by 2 minutes.

Yep! It's a 99.26% game according to Wizard.
Details to come.
$2,000 buy-in. Low point: $237.50. High point $9,750.
Cashed out for $6,360.
If I'm reading this right, techinically you won TWO cars (you opted for the cash both times)?
If I were you, I'd be DAMN careful right now in life; it's all about balancing karma you know.
(Unless of course some BAD-ASS-SHIT has happened to you lately, then this is just making up for that)
Ohh and Congratulations.
What kind of sh!t is that? RidiculousQuote: ClarkWGriswoldChauncey,

Lots of times I've been down to around $2-300, but never won that much afterwards.

Sorry, I just don't believe in "luck". There are two sides to every coin.
For all positive, there is equal negative.
Quote: ClarkWGriswoldSorry, I just don't believe in "luck"..
I also don't believe in luck. It's just another word for
variance. Calling it luck demeans the actual facts. It
puts it in the voodoo range, making it mysterious
and provocative. Luck is all about variance, depending
on your edge. No edge, wild swings in 'luck'. Good edge,
you still have swings, but they're less volatile. Using
the word luck implies everything is out of your control.

Been a very busy few days!
We now have the car outside: a white 2014 Jetta Sportswagen. It's not bad as far
as cheap, small station wagons go. Could have been a lot worse.
Here's how we get to the price --
1. Signed for my _actual_ prize car at Atlantic VW Tuesday night. Gave them
$1548.17 for sales tax and registration.
2. Gave Toms River VW $7850. Thursday night. This is to upgrade from a Jetta S
sedan to a station wagon (Type S). The big haircut, about $4K, is because I had
to cut this deal with Toms River separately -- Atlantic would not arrange a
dealer swap. The available choices at Atlantic were (a) 115-hp dogs, like my
gift car, or year-old 2013 models.
This $7850 included another freight charge -- $820 + tax -- and another $300
"Doc fee", which is pure profit to the dealer. The trade-in value of the car
from Atlantic VW was $13.5K, and we dealt with the differential between that and
sticker on my chosen car. Plus taxes.
3. The new car came with 16" Bridgestone Turanzas on steel rims. Tirerack.com is
shipping a set of Enkei Racing 18" rims and Continental ExtremeContact DWS
all-season tires. These will be delivered to my home and installed Monday.
We'll keep the OEM rims and rubber in the basement for when we trade the car (if
we get another VW with 5-112 bolt pattern). Cost of new rims and rubber:
$1488.10
That's $10886.27 so far. Next year the IRS will want its share! If we're
talking 30%, I can substantiate paying them $4,000 on a prize valuation of
$13,500, rather than $5,460 on a stated/claimed value of $18,100. That
difference isn't chump change.
4. Plus -- new radar detector, new Thule roof rack for my canoes ... (don't
need to go into all that).
So the bottom line is, should I have taken the $10K cash and just shut up?
Well, this was a chance to upgrade our third car and gift the 2009 Honda Element
to my son-in-law at the same time, so there was possible use for a new vehicle.
I have no pretensions about a Jetta, but it has been over 40 years since I owned
or drove a VW. It's not bad at the outset.
Asian cars, especially Hyundai and Kia, have had about a 20% pricing advantage
over German cars for a number of years, and to equip a VW model comparable to my
Mazda CX-5 is at least $6K more, as of autumn 2013.
Would I recommend any car dealers I've worked with? Definitely not Atlantic VW
in Egg Harbor. Toms River VW cut a fair deal by the book, but certainly didn't
try to cover for the egregious mismanagement at Atlantic. That clown car posse
needs an extinction-level event to occur on them.
The disappointing part was the role Revel Casino played in this: almost
invisible; administered in an ad-hoc fashion by a "special projects" coordinator
who nevertheless found time to keep her linked-in profile literally up to the
minute.
My host, Donald Codey, left Revel the Tuesday after my Thursday win to take a
job as an Executive Director at Foxwoods. (He gave the customary two weeks
notice; also as customary, he was immediately frog-marched to the door.) I'm now
considering options for replacing him.
Video Poker alert! Revel's two short-pay Multistrike machines, situated in the
worst part of the casino, have as of Friday the 13th been reduced to one single
machine on the end of the bank. Guess they don't want husbands and wives to
play next to each other, or maybe they just want to kill off the VP entirely.
I hope you continue to visit this forum and post your observations as the VP info is valuable to many on here.
Quote: BozWELCOME to the forum. Thanks for posting your experience and keeping everyone (except UKStages) aware how Revel continues to beat themselves in the head everytime they try and turn things around. They are truly that trainwreck you have to watch to see what they will do next.

Thanks for the welcome. I spent a lot of July reading threads here about the "Can't Lose" promo. But I didn't want to post (here) because I didn't want to contradict other posters, when facts might have been in dispute. If you're registered on ACVPP you can see my earlier comments.
I've been about 40% Borgata, 35% Revel since they opened this place. BUT in the same time, excluding the car, I've gotten 4X as much in the way of incentives, cashback etc. etc. from Revel -- because they're trying to grow the demo of people like me. So it has been (from my perspective) a grand Advantage Play all along, for a year and a half.
