So if you can purposely lose in roulette, you should
be able to purposely win. Right?

Wrong.

No, Nightfly, the proper answer is "Right", in most cases. Provided you own the casino.

Surprisingly, though, Bob often talks as if he believes he has a winning system for a roulette player. I haven't yet figured out whether that is just more of his talk or whether he really believes it.

You're right Doc, I stand corrected. If I owned a casino I could purposely win at roulette. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. If Bob truly had a winning roulette strategy he wouldn't waste the last few years of his miserable life posting here about old TV shows and train stations - instead he'd make money playing roulette and enjoy the high life.

But I don't, she doesn't and he never will.

Does he believe it? I'm sure that to some extent he does; that is, to the extent that he goes to the casino once every couple of weeks, pulls out $100 of his pension cheque, watches the wheel for 5 hours and plays $10 on the middle dozen after it has missed for 6 spins because he knows it's due. 3 times out of 4 he goes home with a tidy $30 profit, rubbing his hands together until his fingers pop, cackling to himself and anyone else who will listen about how he's once again beaten the house at their own game and the fourth time he goes home with empty pockets and curses the thieving casino and his run of bad luck. In the interim he posts his grumpy, cynical comments here and from time to time alludes to his mysterious but never failing roulette method/strategy with a slightly crooked grin on his withered old face, a sparkle in his eye and drool on his chin.

I don't use systems, they don't work. And its not whether I believe it,
its the casino that needs to be convinced. They don't pay losers very
well, as Nightfly knows all to well.

I suppose that's better than having a sparkle on your chin and drool in your eye. But he's done more than allude to his method -- he's told us about it. He waits for the house edge to take a break, or something to that effect, and then places his bets. It's just as effective as the Mike Caro scientific roulette system that cuts the house edge to exactly zero.

Quote: Caro’s Roulette System #1

I’m going to give you a secret roulette system that really works. It will cut the house advantage to literally nothing, if you believe in it enough to never get frustrated and switch tactics. What I’m going to say may seem strange, but here goes.

First, never bet simply red or black. Also don’t bet odd or even. These are equally poor, consistently losing wagers.

Second, don’t be suckered into betting zero or double zero, despite what some experts may suggest. This may seem like you’re betting with the house, but for technical reasons you are actually betting against the house — and you are taking the worst of it.

So, in order to negate the house advantage, you MUST stick to straight non-green number bets. All odd red numbers turn out to be bad choices, based on over two trillion computer trials. Don’t bet them.

All even black numbers fair poorly, and cannot be bet, for much the same reason, which I won’t explain here.

Let’s get straight to the money-saving advice. Any bet you decide to make MUST cover only even-red or odd-black numbers. There are no exceptions.

Finally, you need to be very disciplined in excluding the number 30 and the group of consecutive numbers that begins with 11 and continues clockwise through and including 14.

This system may seem mystical, but I take gambling quite seriously, and this works for me.

For us non roulette players, does Caro's system eliminate every possible number, leaving you with no option to bet?

Its best to do it while wearing sunglasses and a
hat, so the HE doesn't spot you and rush back
in before the ball hits the pocket.

'Equally'? Wrong answer. (Yeah, yeah I know.....show me Ken)

So using a Marty will show exactly (or close to) the SAME results over 'X' number of months/years COMPARED to ANY other method? Hmmmm

If you must use a system, use one that lets you
lose the slowest. Find a system that just about
breaks even.

The beauty of only play a couple numbers (with high units) is that if/when you are LOSING AT A SLOWER PACE, you get a few hits in a small number of spins AND THEN......its time to go home. Funny as it might sound, its all part of 'the plan' (the norm) to fall behind with my BR when starting out, waiting for those couple of hits....then leave. This damn game is not that tough, it gets TOO MUCH respect, in my opinion.

How many people know when to leave. Its half the game.
I've had people tell me you never leave when you're
winning. Of course, those are the same people who always
go home broke..

My advice if a person only plays a couple numbers is this......gear your win goal AROUND your unit size.

Meaning, lets say you are playing 2-3 numbers and your win goal (then leave) is only $450 (for example) >> Use $15 units.

Lets say its a win goal of $300, use $10 units. Thinking/betting like this is a HUGE PLUS when you keep going back and fourth......break even, fall behind, break even, fall behind etc.

If you are at that point of around even and THEN you get a hit, you get your win goal, then leave.

Ken (leaving now for the casino, have a good night)

C'mon Ken, the really smart players never leave
while they're ahead. You know that..
