His variance is close to zero. He has specifically mentioned a bunch of $50k bets in his recent session reports. And his entire session results have been within a few of those big bets. It would be like if my results, as a $25 bettor, were + or - $50 a session. I rarely fall in that range.
But DarkOz, notice he never says how much he makes in a week, because he knows how variable THAT is. I think it’s also different in that he has a job with steady income, and your entire income stream is through your AP play.

Rio Las Vegas is changing its tip policy. Some dealers are unhappy
According to an internal memo shared with the Review-Journal, Rio is implementing a 50/50 toke split for all table game dealers. Under the new policy, dealers will keep 50 percent of the tips, or tokes, earned at their table. The other 50 percent will be pooled and split evenly among all dealers who worked within the given 24-hour period.
Wow, dealers will be fighting to deal my table then. But I don't play Rio anyway.
Wonder how this will work for "breakers" will they get 50% of what is received in tips during their twenty minutes?

For the three weeks that I was a BJ dealer we pooled the tips across 24 hours and everyone got an equal cut.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

Breeds discontent. ‘Why am I at the low tip Pai Gow table while he’s at the high tip baccarat table?’ ‘Why am I at the empty $100 table while he’s at the packed $50 table’.
Also good question about the 20 minute break guys.
And logistically, if they get a $25 toke, do they make change and put $12.50 in their pocket and $12.50 in a box?
I will say this…. I think the present shared tip system disincentives good service. The dealers know that their individual performance and attitude is not tied to their paycheck.

Agreeing with you physically hurts me but you are correct. 20% of the dealers make 80% of the tips. What this does is makes the lazy dealers even lazier because they know they're going to get a portion of the hard working dealers tips. It's a terrible idea. But it's good for management because they need people coming in every day and sharing tips makes even the worst dealers show up for work.

I would expect that under any system where all the tokes are not pooled, the dealers will carry their own toke boxes. Any accounting and pool chop can still happen in the back room.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 20 minute breakers disappeared as well. When a dealer came back from a break, they would just relieve a dealer on a different table. All dealers would rotate tables, an hour at a time. This gives all the dealers ample chance to establish a rapport with players and hustle tokes graciously thank them for playing.

That’s not how he does it. He has metal dust surreptitiously affixed to the 9’s and 8’s in the deck. Before each hand is dealt, he waves that thing over the soon to be dealt cards. If it starts beeping, he now knows the next card will be an 8 or a 9. So he bets one of those $50k ‘advantage’ hands on player. And the pit boss just thinks he’s some weird guy and doesn’t suspect a thing!

I read about that at the Search & Rescue web site. This fatality was due to a common mistake -- rappelling on the wrong/pull side of the rope. That and having too short of a rope are the two most common causes of deaths in rappelling.
In general, most mountaineering accidents are due to human error and of those, most can be filed under overlooking the basics.
From now on, I think I'll put blocks on both sides of the rope. The last person will have to remove one of them and be careful to rappel off the correct side.

Do you guys Australian rappel? That scared the beejezus out of me my first time. We were supposed to do three thirty-foot rappels and then do an eighty-foot one, but the instructor decided to go to eighty feet after only one thirty-foot.

I won $500 in a 3 point shooting contest (Gus Macker) years ago, and bought a basket for my house with it.
And wife would buy silly expensive shoes or purse with proceeds from TSLA sales.
I like knowing ‘where it came from’ even though in actuality all my money is really one big pot.

It was a tremendous win day. The first session I won “only” about 60K then on the second session I kept getting stuck first around +80K then around +100k then around +160K. I could have won more. I could have also won a lot less!

My wife noticed my cash bag and took half of the cash “for safe keeping.” She also saw the hundreds of thousands in chips but didn’t even mention those. I would have just said, Oh those belong to the casino. I don’t like to mention figures with her. She just knows that I’m winning.
When we go to the casino they tend to ask her why she’s rarely around and she tells them she doesn’t like casinos. Sometimes they tell her Well don’t worry your husband definitely knows what he’s doing you should come and watch sometime. But as I’ve mentioned I don’t like anyone around when I’m playing as far as spectators. When you’ve got 50K out on a hand or thinking about doing that it’s just about you and you alone you don’t want any input from anyone.

I on the other hand….
