I have a $700 free slot play at Palms that expires 01.01.13.
I had not planned on going to Las Vegas before that date. I was going to allow it to expire.
Today, I received an offer from Sam's Town for three nights comped and $50.00 in dining that expires 09.30.12.
I would be driving to Las Vegas from Southern California which takes about 5 hours. My total expenses including transportation and food would be $200.
Is it worth it to spend $200 to get that free play?
******** Correction: My expenses would be $200. Not $250. ****************
Quote: teddysYes. You will make $448.
If he runs it thru once. Who does that. Not my wife,
thats for sure.
Quote: JuyemuraI would say go for it! Though you need to ask yourself if you are really going to only spend $200. Or are you going to find yourself seeing a couple of extra shows, eating out, and gambling more then you had anticipated.
Ok. Lets add $50 for unexpected expenses.
Let's say $250 total cost.

I have discipline.
Sorry for being a smart-ass, but are you asking if 700*0.90 > 200?Quote: jwblueThe bottom line.

Is that all I have to do to determine if it is +ev?
Is .9 the expected return of playing the slots?

Ah,,, an inquiry in values (or perhaps merely valuation)!
Since you were willing to "lose it rather than use it" perhaps ANY bait is sufficient to revive some "value" in using it. It might require sufficiently attractive bait if you had not already made the decision to let it expire.
We have several factors: Your time and energy, your vehicles wear and tear, the risks of highway travel, the risks of staying home and becoming bored and frittering away the "saved" time and energy.
The value of your investment in the Sam's Town offer and the value of the FreePlay are the primary factors.
Whatever history you have with Sam's Town, if any, that allowed you to receive the offer has some value as does the offer itself. If you merely stay at Sam's Town and use up the freeplay elsewhere, you get no ROI on your time other than the return from the FreePlay. So you should factor in the amount you will gamble at Sam's Town as a "cost" incurred in using up the FreePlay.
The primary question is what is the value of Seven Hundred Dollars in FreePlay. Ofcourse we all know you can hit the Super Duper Jackpot or the flashing light that indicates Zero Credits This Spin. You can of course get anything in between. So here again its Lady Variance that enters the picture. Given the dates involved, the humidity, the orientation of each casino to Mecca, it works out that you will receive 312.00. However, you will receive this in Dribs and Drabs rather than one big win which you could then Cash Out with.
Since your winnings will only come in Dribs and Drabs it is likely that you will only Dribble them and Drabble them away.
However, you have your session at Sam's Town and a good chance at comps there as well as winning at their slots.
Enjoy the drive back, slow down around Baker to avoid speed traps.
Glad you're back!Quote: FleaStiff...
