Waffle houses everywhere in southeast. But yes, In biloxi the concentration is absurd. More waffle houses than McDonald's, one like every three blocks from ocean springs to bay st louis

Lots of Waffle Houses in the Deep South. Many freeway exits have one on EACH side of the bridge ;-)
Used to have an employee that claimed 'they got good groceries at Waffle House'.

About 20 years ago I looked into getting the Waffle House franchise for Las Vegas. It didn't work out and today there are still no Waffle House's in Vegas. The nearest Waffle House is 234 miles.

Every time I go to one I make a $5 bet with my party whether the waitress will have more teeth or tattoos.

I certainly understand why some don't like Waffle House restaurants. I travel solo and (generally) don't like to eat alone in a restaurant. But I sometimes get breakfast at Waffle House. It's hard to screw up breakfast, Waffle House makes it for you only after you order it, and the service is speedy.

A special pleasure for me (simple mind, easily amused) is to sit at the counter where I can watch the staff prepare the food. A well-run Waffle House with a good staff that works well together puts on a great show when things get busy. It's a breakfast-grill ballet. Also, I notice that staff I ask frequently report working there for years. To me, that says something about Waffle House as an employer. I know the staff isn't pulling in the big bucks, and food service staff can go elsewhere if they are treated poorly.

In 2004 I was involved in a project in the Gulfcoast area of Mississippi. One of the managers at one of the two Waffle Houses off I-10 at exit 50 (Ocean Springs) told me his Waffle House (south side of I-10) had a different district manager than the one on the north side of I-10, even though you could almost see from one to the other. I figured they split the regional manager districts so both had a reason to go to the nearby casinos during overnight visits.

As for restaurants folks claim to be so much better than Waffle House, you never see what really goes on in those kitchens. The assumption -- without supporting data -- is that it is all pristine. Maybe. Maybe not. But, at Waffle House, if servers bump into one another accidentally and your sausage falls on the floor, it never goes back on your plate. Good, bad, right, or wrong, it is all out in the open at Waffle House.

In other news;

Harrah's now has EZ Bac, joining GN as only installs on the Gulf Coast AFAIK.
$15 minimum, open a lot more than the GN one.

You could be right, but haven't found the need to visit, west of Treasure Bay, in years.

I like waffle house and I used to have breakfast there as a break from my own cooking which if anyone reads the cooking thread at DiversityTommorow is best described as rather unique. However some dispute among the customers one morning lead to words being exchanged in the parking lot and then some punches and some bullets. Neither of the combatants seems able to hit anything but they sure sprayed enough lead around for me not to go there anymore. This was SW Florida, not Biloxi, however.

One waitress announced she was going to the local Indian casino and I just walked up to her and handed her an extra dollar for good luck. She only played teh slots so I doubt she wound up in the plus column.

I used to sit near the end of a counter in the Santa Monica Airport. If the bagel fell cream cheese side up, the waitress would pick it up off the floor and say to me as she put it back on the plate "You didn't see that".

Its the old joke about where does the man who inspects restaurants eat his lunch? At home!

Yes, the Hard Rock buffet is excellent, great selection of seafood.

I agree on the buffet... it's fairly good.

There are just too many standards by which people try to judge buffets: quantity, price, lines, line bypass options, quantity and quality of favorite items, quantity and quality of standard items, specialty items (milk, orange juice machine, alcohol, chocolate, sushi, etc.).

Some reviews of breakfast buffets are unrelated to the dinner buffets.
