Police in Northern Island arrested a bookie for maintaining a Fixed Odds Betting Terminal wherein one hundred pounds can be bet every twenty seconds. Such terminals are legal under the 2005 legislation applicable to the UK but Northern Ireland's most recent gambling legislation was in 1995 with limits of one pound being wagered at a time.
Additional information available at the BBC.

I believe that Northern Ireland has stricter gambling rules than the UK. For instance household items with promotions where you could win something usually have a "not applicable in NI" condition. You also see it on UK TV programmes. I've only been there once, many years ago, and remember a poker club in Belfast having been closed down; so can understand them going for a bookie.
