Really, no one would want to buy the sign as memorabilia? Seems like a lost profit opportunity to me for such a historic property.

this news prompted me to check ebay for some sahara poker chips. this one looks pretty cool.

The price of scrap metal has been pretty high. Perhaps the value of the materials was worth more than the cost of trying to keep it in one piece...
The sign was not from the original Sahara. The article mentioned that it was put up in 1990.

It has that late 70's vibe, but read closely.. the chip is from the Sahara in Reno (which became the Reno Hilton in the early 80's).

oh. i didnt even realize it scrolled down that far lol. its still a nice looking chip though :)
