I'm torn. It is disruptive and attention-getting, but unlikely to garner sympathy.
I'll take my offensive political arguments on the matter to redacted.

I saw it on the news, must be fun to have you lay face down on the highway pavement in Nevada in August. I like the looks on the faces of the stupid protesters like they thought they were going to get away with it. Ouch, you're hurting me. I can't hear that enough LOL

These are Tribal Police, they don't work for the state or the county or the city. So your fantasy of prosecution isn't going to happen. You really don't want to screw around with Tribal Police, they can do things that no other police can do.

What does roulette and baccarat have to do with the fact that you obviously did not read the title of the video which is. Tribal Police Ram climate protesters.. That would be your first clue. This is why we get into trouble because people lash out at the police when they don't have any of the facts.

What facts are missing? A police car rammed into peaceful protestors. What difference does it make what department or race the idiot was?

Because Tribal Police are not regulated by the state so this means the highway had to be running through tribal lands and they're not subject to the same regulations as regular police are. They can run through a barricade like that and not suffer the same consequences a state cop would. I have zero sympathy for any protestor stupid enough to close down a highway for their own selfish reasons.

You claimed I was Fantasizing I was not, so in return I reminded you your the one prone to fantasies and provided examples.
So what's the best PR move the feds can make here? Should they send in the FBI and start arresting tribal police on tribal lands who broke up a protest that used methods few people have sympathy for? The optics would be iffy. Or should they do nothing, say nothing, and let the story wither on the news vine?
Anyways, I would argue that the protestors were successful. It was a national news story. Maybe not the front burner news they would have gotten for throwing tomato soup on a Van Gogh but still, people from coast to coast heard about what they did and why they did it.
Quote: GialmereIt's my understanding that only the feds can intervene on tribal lands via the Bureau of Indian Affairs. That, of course, means Washington D C. where all decisions are made through a political filter.

I think the Tribal Police did a great job, I think theyshould have done even more. Screw these stupid climate protesters, protesting against nothing. Like we can change the climate.
Quote: GialmereAgreed. And yet, here we are, two strangers discussing the earth's climate and all because a few protesters blocked traffic at Burning Man. You have to admit, their tactics are effective.

This is only a few seconds of video. We have no idea what happened before the video starts, or during the multiple cuts in the video.
I'm not going to defend either the cop or the protestors... I just said the cop was tired of their BS. If he gets in trouble for that, so be it.
The left-wing radicals were blockading Burning Men and Women.
Burners are by nature very liberal and progressive, often gay, and certainly sympathetic to the climate change movement.
Why blockade your own supporters?
Of course, the protesters must have realized that the Burners would passively stand for this outrage; had they blockaded a more hostile audience, say, a few thousand NRA members, their removal would have been nearly-immediate and quite likely much bloodier.

The claim is that Burning Man has gone from a free love festival to a corporate retreat where the elite gather. The $2,000 ticket price excludes the people who started it, and it became a nerd fest from cryptoairs. Based on the people I know who are still going, they may have a point. It was a fun freakfest that grew into a monstrosity for the newly rich. It's Sturgis for the pocket protector type.

Quote: TigerWuTribal Ranger who rammed protestors' sign and pulled a gun is "under review" for his actions.
link to original post
That is a weird thing to investigate. I would be more concerned with him ramming a car through a trailer with people chained to it than the fact that he drew his gun for like three seconds.... Not that it matters at all, because nothing will come of it. If people think there are minimal consequences for American police who act badly, they need to look at tribal police.
Quote: GandlerProtestors are dumb. But, that is also why tribal casinos are frightening and should be avoided, there is no accountability for tribal police. It's like a 3rd world country. Scary!

One lesson needed by the protestors. Check the laws of the area or reputation you’re entering, just like you would going to another country. It’s not that I approve of whatever tactics a place may employ, but it’s just not wise to go in uninformed.

Yes, because comments on Youtube videos are what departments should base their use of force policies on.

Youtube comments are generally an absolute dumpster fire on politically charged videos. I wouldn't put much stock in them.
So, youtube comments numbers must be meaningless.

I totally disagree. I've been looking at comments on YouTube for years and years and I put far more weight in them than anything I see on cable news. The YouTube audience is usually quite diverse and in this case you got 70,000 people when I looked saying pretty much the same thing, that tells me a lot. Or I could listen to some overpaid douchebag in the Legacy Media for his worthless opinion. I'll take YouTube any day.

You are correct. It says I watch a lot of YouTube videos on all kinds of subjects and I know how to read the comment section. It sounds like you have very little experience at this yet for some reason consider yourself an expert. I watch probably 3 hours of YouTube a day because I don't have cable anymore and haven't had for years and I subscribe to over 100 YouTube channels on every subject imaginable. Being able to read the comment section on anything is a honed skill taking many years. When I see 70,000 comments that are mostly the same on a news story that gives me an idea on what the public at large feels about this. Also in my own extended family absolutely nobody has a negative thing to say about the cops in the story. Facebook is lit up with them praising the cops. You will learn far more from reading comments than from watching any totally biased News Network and they're all biased every single one of them. You know, those places where you get your news from.

Actually it's more than 3 hours and it's hardly a boob tube. I subscribe to hiker channels, lots of food channels of people who've been doing it for years. At least five antique car channels, lots of travel channels with Americans who live in foreign countries or people who travel to foreign countries a lot. Those are extremely interesting. Several documentary channels, at least two chipmunk channels because I love chipmunks, several History Channels, a space Channel, several political channels, right now it stays at 102 channels and believe me there's not a boob among them. Oddly enough I don't subscribe to a single cat Channel. And YouTube shorts, I probably watch 50 or 60 of those a day late at night and I learn a lot in a very short time. If I had to list all the benefits of the internet I would put YouTube right at the top for its ability to connect the world to itself.

EB, you said you blocked me so I guess this is for everybody else: you can continue to tango in the dark.
There IS a news network that claims not to be slanted, News Nation.
see: https://www.newsnationnow.com/
I go to them regularly, online and on TV, for news.
No, they're not completely neutral, it seems to me: they have Cuomo for heaven's sake, but they mostly just present straight up news without overt slanting and editorializing.
Somewhat refreshing, albeit far from perfect.

I wonder if he was in the traffic that was being blocked by those pathetic protestors.
Inclement weather on Friday night was severe enough to halt all traffic to and from the site and impose a ban on bicycle and buggy rides within the campsite
Slippery, muddy conditions made driving treacherous - organizers banned all driving and the main gate into the site closed prevent anyone entering or leaving. Organizers even asked people to stop pushing or riding bikes around due to fears the tires might cause deep ruts after the ground was softened by the rainfall.
Burning Man organizers instructed those attending to shelter in place, not operate generators or other electrically powered instruments that are standing in water and cover anything electrical.
'In the case of rain, do not drive your vehicle or ride your bike. Remain where you are. Batten down your camp. Cover or secure anything electrical. Check on your campmates and neighbors to make sure they're prepared, and help out as needed,' stated another message as the weather turned nasty.
Driving was not permitted in Black Rock City with the atrocious weather threatening to turn the desert floor into a muddy paste.
About one- to two-tenths of an inch of rain is expected which although may not seem like much, even a small amount of rain can cause problems in the Black Rock Desert which is usually bone dry.
The rain made the ground extremely slippery, with sticky mud clinging to bike tires and shoe treads forcing attendees to shuffle around.
'It's just very slippery. And you can't drive and it's hard to maneuver through there and stuff like that. [The ground] just turns to like a paste, basically. So yeah, certainly not ideal,' meteorologist Scott McGuire told SFGate.
Friday and Sunday are expected to be the wettest days of the festival and while the rain will make the playa unpleasant, flash flooding is not expected.
