As I remember it, I thought the Wizard said something along the lines of if you think something someone posts is "bigoted," the bigotry of the post would speak for itself and you shouldn't call it bigoted.
I tried to find the post in the Discussion about the Suspension List thread but I got distracted by re-reading the B9 shenanigans in that thread and I couldn't find it.

That makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is the statement; it is untrue and nasty. There are racists everywhere and attributing them all to one party is ridiculous.
My mother-in-law, a serial MSNBC watcher, says some of the most racist things I have ever heard. She was a member of the Democrat Party and the ACLU. It is almost sad now that she has lost touch with reality--she says these things now to people of color who are taking care of her in the nursing home. It used to anger me when she was still of sound mind. Calling people awful things and then supporting every liberal known to man. Yep, she is a racist and she surely did not vote Republican.

Right. After the news yesterday about the old

dozens were arrested today, 95% of them
young kids. Nothing to do with TV. Right.

Why are they arresting protestors?

Anyway, I checked it out. They did report one person arrested in connection with a protest at a rally in St Louis. No mention of "dozens" arrested but they did mention fistfights, etc.
I am not quoting it since it is such a hot mess using the website.

Of course black people care, were you kidding? Black people are people, they have families and concerns just like 'any other people'. That part I understand, in my heart, down deep. What I don't understand is why anyone is concerned with the 'black vote'. I think they missed the bus, (hint, those black people are people, just like you and me. They represent 'bout 10% of the vote, smaller than the 'Latino' vote. I don't like grouping people into either category, or any other category). You US citizen? You vote. You get it right or you make a mistake, either way, you did your part. This country, my country, is very resilient. I suspect that it will still be here when all the opportunists that try to divide us are long dead, only footnotes in an ongoing story. I've seen several fights on live TV
There will be arrests tonight
scary
Big crowds outside opposing each other
really sad

I am worried about violence, too. Any time large groups of people are in each other's faces, anything can happen.
I do have a problem with people like the one protester they interviewed who are protesting "everything"...which really means they don't know what the heck they are doing there, they just want to be in the crowd.
The people against the Donald, protest away...at least they have a clue!!

Just to be clear.... I was watching Nancy Reagan's funeral all afternoon. And then I watched for about 30 minutes after that coverage ended.
Typically I don't watch cable news all afternoon. I have a steady diet of talk shows and Judge Judy.
You can't spew that hateful rhetoric and not expect the hate to bubble over into violence.

So it's OK to say Republicans are racist but not liberals?
Liberalism at it's core is the most racist/ bigoted thought process around. The belief that certain people can never make it without government help is beyond shame. Then again, look at how most minorities vote Dem year after year as their lives and neighborhoods get worse and worse. Maybe they do need help. But that free health insurance is doing wonders for them, maybe they can use it to get their heads examined.

The Fox reporter remarked on how diverse the crowd was.

Of course they do. It's a general statement but they are in the same boat as many of the young college students and those junkies who were the "Occupy" crowd. When one party promises free stuff and tells them they are victims and the other is telling them we can "Make America Great Again", but it will take hard work and sacrifice, who do you think they are going to support? I don't even blame them, so many of today's youth of all races have never had to work or sacrifice for anything. They have had so much handed to them at a young age, they don't know any other way. And the Dems are smart enough to keep offering the free ride, just what they want to hear.

No most of them have heard Bernie will make Pot legal and they will get free college. And also they will never, ever have to work, pay taxes or lose a loved one. A vote for Bernie or Hillary is a life of luxury is all they understand. While that other guy is "mean" and wants them to lead a life of responsibility for their choices in life. What kind of bs is that?? So unfair!

Lest there be continued misunderstanding, you correctly rendered bigotry and racism as two phenomena. The dictionary definition of a bigot is "a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices." And that encompasses a huge spectrum, including all sorts of social and political questions.Quote: BozSo it's OK to say Republicans are racist but not liberals?

It's not a coincidence that those making ridiculous assertions like this frequently can't spell three-letter words. As I have said many times, a wise man (OK, maybe not wise but rich) once said. "I may not be able to spell so good, but I sure can count". I have no issue with you making an assumption about me because I make plenty about you just from your posts.
That said, feel like explaining to me why I am wrong?
Opportunity is out there for almost everyone in America to have almost anything and everything they want. But it's always easier to blame others on why your life didn't turn out the way you wanted instead of blaming the person responsible for it, the one in the mirror every morning. And those on both sides are guilty of that. It's just that the liberals thrive off of telling people that others are to blame, instead of the truth.
Quote: ams288Who said that? Feel free to call liberals racists all you want. I don't care. I don't even read 90% of your posts anyways so it won't bother me much. lol
I read 100% of yours in this thread. Why? Because as I said one other time and you didn't answer, is that I am fascinated how someone can have the views you have and wonder what happened in your life that created these views. Odds are only 10% that you will see this, so I will have to make my own assumptions, good, bad or indifferent.
And I won't put a "lol" like you did because I honestly wonder. But I'm sure people wonder about me and those with my beliefs and values as well.

A "thug" is a "thug"...it is not "coded racial language" to call a group of people who try to incite riots--who cares about what they look like--"thugs"... It was the threats of violence that caused the problem, not peaceful protest. I think he has "thugs" on his side, too. They just aren't the "thugs" who caused the event to be canceled. One doesn't wade into a crowd who has an opposite point of view with the intention of peacefully protesting--they are trying to start something. Protesting peacefully outside? That is fine; they aren't in a crowd gathered to see a certain person.
They did make their First Amendment rights more important than his by introducing danger inside the arena. If none of them had gone in, there would have been no confrontation in the arena. The "thugs" on his side would have had nothing to fight about. They caused the cancellation of an event that was happening in a rented building; one rented for a Donald Trump event. They cost the broke city of Chicago lots of money with their antics. If they did the same thing during a concert, show, or ball game, they would be detained and tossed out of the event. Outside the arena is a different story--peacefully protest to your heart's content.
Let's not forget the fact that the scum people that protest because they have nothing else to contribute to society also answered the call to protest. Those people are thugs and I have seen them of all colors. They protest just to protest. Heck, I am not even sure they know what they are protesting but they show up all over the place and raise the level of anger...

You've speculated that Trump did it on purpose. Could be. Who knows what goes through his mind? Maybe he even planted the people on the other side to cause the threat of violence. He is devious...
I saw a diverse crowd peacefully protesting with a few "bad eggs" (is that racially coded language?) trying to cause problems. The majority of people seemed to represent many walks of life and were there against Trump but not to shut him down. Too many "bad eggs" spoiled the day.
Why shouldn't he rally in the city? He is trying to be President of the United States, not President of the Really Nice Areas. Besides, and I have seen some bad places in Chicago, this area did not seem particularly bad in any way to me. Perhaps it is; it just did not look like it to me.
No, it is not Trump's fault (assuming that the things in the first sentence are not true). That is blaming the victim. I thought we didn't like that kind of stuff...

Thug has become an acceptable way of using the "n" word in the 21st century.
That's how I see it. That's how many people see it. Even if you disagree with it, you know that many people feel that way.

So you agree Michael Brown could have done all the same things successful liberals have done if he just wouldn't have become a "thug". I use the word because that he appeared to be when he strong armed the shopkeeper. Or is that racist to say? Maybe I should call him a unifier because he got the shopkeeper to agree to his way.

Totally agree about the absurdity of a Clinton vs Trump ballot. I can't see myself voting for either. Trumps business acumen may make him seem like the lesser of two evils, but I just think he's a horrible human being and a hothead.

For once I agree! Silly Trump thinking he has a chance in Chicago, which 80 years of liberalism has ruined. He is lucky he wasn't shot by a "thug", like 18.73 others will this week there. Hell I even blame the failure of the Cubs as a direct result of liberalism in the city.
