Hello all,
I need some help, I was hoping someone could help me with the calculation for 5 card video poker odds? I am trying to test a new idea and it has been a while since I had a probability class. Any help is much appreciated.
Thx

A good start is to calculate the numbers of ways to be dealt from a 52-card deck these ten hands: royal flush, straight flush, four-of-a-kind, full house, flush, straight, three-of-a-kind, two pairs, one pair, and nothing. Then verify that the total is 2,598,960.

I have the calculation for the initial deal, what I am having trouble with is how do you calculate the probability based on how many cards are held?

It is not easy.
I recommend looking around at vpgenius.com. They have a lot of info about programming video poker analyzers and they have many, many paytables already programmed. Additionally, they have a custom paytable, but I haven't messed around with it so I don't know how well it works.
There is also programming info on the Wizard's other site, Wizard of Odds.
If you can't get it done through vpgenius or by programming an analyzer, then you will need to hire someone if it is important enough.
