But I have a question, well, two really. The Wizard's survey notes 4Q offers 5x odds on craps. I take it to mean you can place or lay up to 5x odds regardless of the point, as opposed to the 3,4,5x dependent on the point at most other casinos. so 1) am I making sense and 2) am I right?
On your craps question, I would assume, yes.
Quote: AlanI'll be staying there Labor Day weekend(Sat, Sun, Mon-departing Tuesday), so if you want my feedback/opinion after that stay, I can oblige. I'll really be interested in the noise level coming from FSE on Saturday night.
Thank you, I'd appreciate it.
Say, it might not be a bad idea for forum users so inclined to update the site's reviews from time to time... Just a thought.
As for the noise from the FSE, I've asked and have been told it ends at midnight or so, after the last show. It doesn't go on all night long. That can be a problme if you're coming frm the eastern or central time zones, since local midnight would be 2 or 3 am for you. I've found noise filtering ear lpugs, amde of foam rubber, to be somewhat effective. The Wizard mentions ear muffs of the type worn by pneumatic drill operators in his review of the 4Q.

I should hope so. I mean, 20X, 10X sound really good, but knowing me 5X ought to be plenty... We'l see. I'll probably wind up playing Rapid Craps at Bill's, too, at some point. I may also pay a daytime visit to El Cortez for the 10x.
For someone of your gambling comportment, you may want to hold off on the odds multiples. It's great to have 5x/10x/20x, but for a budget of $100 or so a day, a bad run could really kill your bankroll.Quote: NareedI should hope so. You can get a LOT of variance for just single and double odds.
I believe you can play for $2 (at 2x odds) at Slots-A-Fun in front of Circus Circus; if you can hang with the clientele. You can't miss the table, it's practically on the sidewalk.
Quote: NareedNormally a safe deposit box at the front desk or the cage would be good enough, in some ways it's even safer, but I'm apprehensive about having to show an ID that doesn't match my appearance every time I need to access the box, ergo the room safe.
You don't seam to be at all concerned about flying into the USA from a foreign country with an ID that doesn't match your appearance.

Yes. Though you can see there is not all that much difference between 3x4x5x and 5x.
3x4x5x.. 0.374%
5X .... 0.326%
10X .... 0.184%
20X .... 0.099%
If you play at the Four Queens you stand a chance of being comped even though your level of intended play may be viewed as a bit too low.

True. It will match my appearance when I travel. But I won't be changing appearance back and forth every day just to get at my property.

From the way you have talked about being a low roller, I'm thinking 5X is as far as you want to go. As is often stated, the free odds do not make you win more money. I'd be zeroing in on the closest table with a low minimum and when that is likely to be. It's just a much bigger factor.

Thank you, and Alan, too, for the tips.
I know this. I don't necessarily place or lay odds on every roll, and not necessarily the max odds, either. I played that way at Bill's last year ($3 min in RC at 3,4,5x) on a budget of $300 I saved specifically to try my hand at craps on the not-so cehap <g> I learned no amount of bankroll is enough when the dice insist on doing the wrong thing, and that ocassionally tipping the dealers works wonders on their disposition :P
So it's good to know that I can increase my odds bet, both on the line and the come, should I catch the odd, very rare, shooter on a hot streak.
Oh, I learned something else: How not to give the number 7 power over me. But that's a different story.
As to Mexicana, it's still a ghost with potential investors and complicated issues. If it doesn't get back to business soon, then I'm afraid it never will.
I'm still thinking of the 4 Queens. Now, for some reason it doesn't show up when I look up travel sites. It may be too early yes, or there is another reason. It does show up, with a very reasonable rate, when I look up Flight+Hotel on the Volaris website. I might wind up booking the package there is prices hold up by, say, March.
Volaris is running daily flights to Vegas from Mex City and Guadalajara, one each day. Mexicana ran two flights daily from each airport. I guess the rest of the slack was taken by Aeromexico. I've no idea what American Airlines did (if anything).
