I dislike Mike's Strip/Tropicana walkway stairs concept for a couple reasons. The potential for injury to either the participant or bystanders that someone mentioned is actually so minor, it's not on my radar.

How do you verify the non-use of escalators? The spectators can all congregate on a walkway that has a view of all 8 sets of stairs. But if that's not possible, spectators will need to be divided. I suppose the honor system would also be acceptable, but what fun is that?

My big problem with it is it separates the participants from the spectators. Everyone needs to be together, or at least together for most of the time, primarily because of the comments. Whether to cheer or to taunt, that's a big component.

If you want to do a stair challenge, I propose just a portion of Mike's original concept.

Start in the sidewalk area between the two walkways on Tropicana's NW corner. Go up one staircase, then back down, cross the sidewalk, then up and down the other staircase, back to the first, etc.

It keeps everyone more-or-less together as well as in sight and ear-shot of each other.

It sounds like some of the Vegas / Gambling related challenges mentioned are intended for the entire group to participate. The games mentioned are a reasonable AP challenge, but removes a lot of the fun factor.

Here's a fun gambling related contest that has nothing to do with being an AP: Slot Races. (I tried to get this going at last year's Spring Fling, but it didn't happen.)

Very simple: Find a bank of slots (NOT video poker or video BJ), that are the same denomination and max coin in. They do NOT need to all be the same title.

All players put in the same buy in ($10?). All start at the same time. Whoever gets to zero first, or the person with least credit at the end of a time limit (10 minutes?) is the winner.

At that time, everyone cashes out and gives the winner their TITO ticket.

Jackpot clause: Anyone can opt-out at any time by simply giving double the buy in to the winner.

I would make SooPoo Jr. the frontrunner. This seems right in his wheelhouse.

...Slot Races...

Mike stated previously that he would prefer something where luck isn't the key factor, but hey, it's Vegas. I would change the payout, to biggest winner gets all the loser's tickets if time runs out, since it just seems odd to try to lose. Maybe have a target amount (e.g., $7.77, or $77.77) that if hit, is an instant win?

How about balancing a stack of coins on your elbow, then catching them in the same hand?

I did a ghost pepper challenge 5lbs of wings with that stuff all over them. I finished it under the 20min time limit. I was a mess for a whole day after. Not fun.

I totally agree, considering WoV is an AP group.

I heard about Slot Races on the 360 Vegas podcast. They played it with fans on one of their 360 Vegas Vacation meet-ups. The goal absolutely was to get to zero first.

It sounded like some stupid idea, but a fun stupid idea. After all, what's ten bucks?

I'm in town at the end of this month for another of their 360 Vegas Vacations. They've mentioned on the podcast that another slot race might be happening. I hope so, and will report back...

I have the idea though I have yet to participate in one of these because I am an out of towner.

A quad race/ scavenger hunt. I actually own a piece of property in Near Nelson Nevada (about 45 minutes from the strip) people could rent quads to run through the course of dirt roads (map given) while having to stop and find 10 items along the way (or some number there of.)

At the end the times are tracked who finished 1st send etc

everyone chip in $25 or $50 bucks to a pot

The fastest person through the course then gets to choose a single game and a SINGLE bet and they have to wager 50% of the group money on that bet

example Red 27, 1st column, pai gow 1 hand (though maybe allow the funds to be split with a solid bonus bet just in case) a hand of blackjack, any craps bet (place 6, hardway, even a 12 etc)

if they win they keep 20% of the money and the balance goes to whoever finished 2nd if they lose they get ZERO
Same thing
Third Same thing
4th Same thing
5th same thing until the last player has made a bet who keeps anything remaining. He may be down to a nickel slot machine one line

The fun part about the betting is if a winning streak happens to the middle hands could make a huge payday especially the guy who is last depending on bets, so do you go slow through the course? Or do you want to be first to make sure you have a chance at the 20%

I rent quads from a lady when I am on my property and she has about 25 of them and even delivers. I could see about working a deal out with her

This combines the physical, with the gambling, with the luck and skill at it, Doo it late july I will join in

How about balancing a stack of coins on your elbow, then catching them in the same hand?

This reminds me of a couple of things.
First, there was a game show in the late 1970s/early 1980s where contestants had to guess if someone could break an existing record, and one of the records was this one, although they used the "revised" version where you did not have to catch all of the quarters; the record was based on how many quarters were actually caught. I for one would like to know what the record is for most coins caught without dropping any.

Second, at one time, the Guinness Book said something like, "We will not accept claims of more than 100 coins as it is impossible to hold that many coins in one hand even with the palm facing up" - then somebody caught 125.

Here's my idea of a "physical challenge": how many casinos can you visit (with proof - presumably, go to a VP or slot machine, put in a dollar bill, and have it kick out a $1 TITO) without using any transportation other than your own legs?
An alternative: you have to get TITOs from each of Them, Railroad Pass-wait a minute...excuse me? What? My mistake - from each of The M, Silverton (or South Point), Railroad Pass, Aliante, Santa Fe Station, and Red Rock (you are allowed to use whatever transportation you want for this one). If you want to make it harder, limit it to walking/jogging/running and the buses, but then you have to replace The M with, say, Green Valley as the buses don't go to The M.

Slot machines don't accept $1 bills. Most don't accept $5 bills either. I wouldn't be surprised if some didn't take $10s.

On second thought, you could put in $20, take a photo of the TITO, cash it, and move on.

Regardless, that challenge is an awful waste of time. Hardly an Advantage Play I would think.
