Generally speaking when I stay in Las Vegas I like to stay on the strip in one of the MGM or CET properties, whichever one I can get comped. However I was recently asked about downtown and while I gamble there a fair amount while in Vegas I've never actually stayed in one of them as a guest. So for those of you who have been as a guest which one do you prefer and why. Good comps, good food, clean rooms, cheap rooms etc etc.

Can you still do the daily Free Spin at the main entrance to Four Queens if you're already staying there?

Golden Nugget is far and away the closest thing to a Strip style resort that downtown offers. It is even nicer than some of the lower level strip resorts.

Trying to give the GN a run for their money would be The D.

And those are the two I voted for.

On a side note, I don't know why Binion's was included, or why anyone voted for it, since it's hotel has been closed for years.

The D is horrible. Loud music, no room to walk around in on the main floor, and the cards cheat. I've always had horrible sessions at the D and Golden Gate. I swear they cheat.

Golden Nugget so far, best quality downtown. And the only acceptable gym. And their Sushi is (convenience * quality) > {All of Vegas}.

But I am going to give the Downtown Grand a chance next time I visit, which you didn't list. Too obese? (It is a block away.)

.

Downtown Grand isn't too far away. Well I've never been before, but if it's only a block away then it's not too far. The main reason I didn't list it was because I got the list by using the hotels list under WoV and putting the ones under downtown up. I couldn't fit them all and didn't realize Binions had closed the hotel down which is why it's not on there.

I voted Binions. Mistook it for Bigot.

Thank you. I hate that casino and don't even
like walking by it. Too noisy and they have
way too much crap on the casino floor, get
100 people in there and you can't move.

Why is Binions on the list, the hotel has been
closed for years.

The Downtown Grand is the new place to stay in DT Vegas. The Deluxe room I stayed in is above most basic rooms on the strip from a design and cleanliness standpoint. They have a small casino, but they are doing good things and will succeed if anyone can down there.

And I really didn't play that much on my December trip and the return offers for my next trip in April have me cutting my strip time down to make another trip DT. I had the option of Red Rock and Downtown Grand and chose DT for the end of my trip. You get all DT has to offer while staying in a nice, new room.

Interesting that Plaza did not get any votes. Golden Nugget's Rush Tower is great, otherwise, Plaza is newer and better. I also don't like how crowded Golden Nugget's casino floor feels.

The Plaza has great rooms now, didn't they buy
all the beds and TV's and drapes and carpeting
from that hotel on the Strip that never opened?
I can't remember it's name.

They do, with DirectTV on the flatscreens and fast internet. Also free bottled waters and lots of elevators. A quality hotel experience.

They got their furniture from the Fountainbleau.
