Hi All,
I have a question about the Red Seven countting system that I hope someone would be able to help me with?
At +2 you buy insurence and at +4 you double down on 10 against A, if i understand it corect.
My question is however - do you take insurence and double on 10 against A on the same hand at the same time??? Sounds a bit strange to me and I would think the casino would think you are crazy to make that play :)
Sorry - i am not a native english speaker.
Thank you in advance :)

What's crazy about it? You buy insurance before the dealer checks for blackjack. Then, if there is no blackjack, you double.
Think of it as two separate bets.

I'm glad someone brought up the Red Seven count. I think I am in need of an unbalanced count if I am going to move towards something more effective than my dear and much loved ace-five count. Is the Red Seven the way to go? I did read "Blackbelt in Blackjack" and it does sound pretty neat, effective, and easy to use.

Oh, I play in europe, so there is only one hole card and first later the dealer will check for blackjack. Thats why i find the play strange - and asked the forum

For me the red seven has been a succes - the Ace-five was not, i guess its to week - the red seven is easy to use at live tables, since many cards count out each other etc.
Playing in europe and counting is not hard and the pit bosses dont care, since most casinos here and ovned by the goverment and the staff get they paycheeck anyway.
One problem is however that the dealer only gets one holecard and the secord after all the other player. So that why i asked how you guys would play this hand..

Fr G, you told us you made it back to the Big H not so long ago, but I was wondering where you have been playing that you can do card counting at all?

I see … I could be wrong, but I don't think the idex you are looking at applies to Eropean rules. Doubling against an ace with no hole card sounds like a suicidal move whatever the count.

There is always at least one hand shuffled game at Harrington. I'm pretty sure it is six decks, liberal rules. The min. is $25, which is a little rich for me so I do the betting spread as nickels added to my base bet of 25. I've found that I get too nervous with any bet over $50 anyway, so in my crazy world I treat it as a betting spread of 1-5. I do of course double and split when I need to no matter what my bet is.
