When Banco is not the optimal play in baccarat

Hello, Wizard. Thank you for the no-nonsense approach to gambling.
In the casino here in Brussels, they offer "Punto Banco" which is what you call mini-baccarat. 6-deck.
They have what you call "UK variant" rules: no 5% commission, but the winning banker bet receives only half its bet if the bank wins with a 6.
Now, on your baccarat pages I see everywhere that the only sound (i.e. EV max) strategy is to bet on Banker.
Does it remain true with the above variant? If (quoting your tables) the house edge for a Banker bet is 1.46%, doesn't it mean that I should prefer the 1.29% attached to the Player/Punto bet ?
