Hey y'all,

Doing some analysis of different card counting strategies and now looking into Ace/Five. I've seen it compared with different strategies such as Hi/Lo and KO that also allow the use of playing deviations (such as taking insurance at +3). This means Hi/Lo or KO with bet spreads + playing deviations perform much better to Ace/Five with bet spreads alone.

Question is, can you also use playing deviations on Ace/Five? As Ace/Five does not count 10 cards, I would assume it can't be used for when to take insurance or when to split 10s? Or can it, as it does take into consideration fewer 5 cards (and thus more likely to get 10s for insurance) and higher chance of getting As (and thus makes split 10s more likely to get an A)?

Interested in any analysis here.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

The Ace/Five Count

I highly doubt any sophistication can be used. I have used it because it’s easy and beats the snot out of just flat betting or worse, “going with your gut.”

Ace-5 has a very limited set of devivations. About 6 in total. I have run 5x 2Gb simulations using Qfit's Blackjack program (Version 3) about 20 years ago.

Since you don't list any conditions, I'll state that the best performance is with Dealer Stands any 17, Double any 2 cards, Double After Split, and Late Surrender. I tested it against my local E. Coast Casinos at that time. With 6 decks, there was about a 1/6% Advantage, 8-decks about 1/8%. There are rules and betting limits, along with a "wong-out" to achieve these figures. The real bonus is to Re-Split Aces... This will increase the Advantage to 1/4% and 1/5% respectively.

I renovated this Ace-5 system. My system is called Ace-5 Ace-side. You use Ace-5 for betting and use 2Ace-(Ace-5) for playing. It is worth a try.

here is a link to the Ace-5 system originally published in 1998, with proof in 2003. Many thanks to Norm W. and the QFIT team for the ver. 3.0 used at that time to run 10 Billion hands of sims using the exact chart referenced.
