Varriance of High Limit Slots

In general do high limit slots have a lower SD per $ wagered. I'm imagining they would since casinos would want to limit risk of the machines losing money since they are played so infrequently..

Does anyone have any information about how to assess the EV & SD of a slot machine, or is the information mostly kept a secret?
