Thinking tonight it's been a bit one of our regular wordlers has posted. He always started with posit then mulch usually. He would set his browser a day ahead and occasionally let us know if a certain person would do good based on their starting word or if the next days would be tough or interesting. Just to lazy do search through this thread. Doghand,wizard,hot blonde...anyone remember this user? Hope something hasn't happened...maybe he is just on a cruise or something with no Internet access. Thanks for anyone's help

I have now played Wordle 11 times. Most of my scores are 3, some 4, one time 2. I don't take the game seriously and use a different start word each time, just slap it in there at random.

Having played it very few times, my stats are based solely on Wordle skills.

Anyone who has played it a lot, success becomes more and more based on "this possible word was already in a prior Wordle so it can't be in this one again" such that the game doesn't mean as much anymore. That's at least one fatal or at least ongoing flaw with this, that people who have played it a lot are playing a different game from those just starting.

I got it in 3. And as you may see, I don't take the game very seriously and play it very quickly, for example on the second line I didn't even bother to put in a letter that I knew was in it, I just made up a word to be able to move on.

I wouldn't care if I got it in 3 or never got it, is my attitude. It could be months before I play it again.

Anyway, my point was just that most anyone who has played it thousands of times would be thinking about what words have already been exhausted, which is an entirely different game from Wordle itself.

A game like Sudoku does not present that self limitation.

Wordle is therefore skewed towards people who have played it a lot. And not because they get better at it.

It's like if the word regatta is on the SAT, and the East coast rich kids all get it right but the black underprivileged do not, not necessarily because they have an inferior vocabulary but because they never got to go to events like that. Same sort of bias.

Standardized exams like the LSAT, SAT, GMAT, etc. are designed to be unbiased. So should games like these not be biased towards any group.

Wordle therefore defeats its primary purpose of training the mind to be adept at logic, deduction, vocabularly, etc. if it eventually becomes just a rote memory exercise in what wasn't used before. How many five letter words are there in English anyway? Scrabble says only 9000.

I have a friend who says looking at a list of previous solutions is cheating. I disagree. However, it makes the game less fun. It seems about half of the viable five-letter words have been already used. Eventually, they will have to repeat. I think the game will be better once they allow for repeats.

When I play on my phone on the road, I do not consult the list of previous solutions.

I always assumed that the way to play the game is without any aids.

But within reason, someone playing should be able to remember prior solutions.
