We were looking for gum but, had you buzzed in first, candy would have been acceptable. Cards and cigarettes were also dispensed.

Note the company logo on the reels. Some historians think the bar symbol came from this machine. Others simply think the bar represented a stick or pack of gum. Still others think both these theories are wrong. It's odd that no one really knows since slot machines didn't exactly come out of the mists of time from ancient Egypt or China.
