I prefer to observe the original date for that (at least it was the date when I first heard about it). My birthday, March 20th.

In high school I was captain of the math team. Not exactly the thing that lead to many dates.... Anyway, I had a good friend who was a very good artist. We named our team The Bayside Radicals.... He designed a T shirt with the front having the word "Bayside" in a 'radical'.... And as captain I got to wear the number 'pi' on my back. The rest of the team had integers. I played basketball in that shirt for many years until it disintegrated.
In college, the Columbia band had a cheer we would chant before every game....
"E to the x, E to the x, E to the x, dy, dx. Cosine, secant, tangent, sine, 3.14159... fight!

I think the line came in an early Andy Griffith recording when he objected upon hearing someone say, "... πR2...."
His reply: "No! Pie are round; cornbread are square."

And in case you missed pi day, there's always mole day coming up in several months. A couple of the chemists at work were surprised I knew what it was, but that was due to my daughter being in Honors Chem in HS.
