Get outta that bed, wash your face and hands
Get outta that bed, wash your face and hands
Well, you get in that kitchen, make some noise with the pots 'n pans
Way you wear those dresses, the sun comes shinin' through
Way you wear those dresses, the sun comes shinin' through
I can't believe my eyes, all that mess belongs to you
I believe to my soul you're the devil and now I know
I believe to my soul you're the devil and now I know
Well, the more I work, the faster my money goes

Is it...

"Shake, Rattle, and Roll"?

Here's another for the board, in the "60's Country" category:

Somebody said he came from New Orleans
Where he got in a fight o'er a Cajun queen
And a crashing blow from a huge right hand
Sent a Louisiana fellow to the Promised Land

The use of "pots 'n pans" in the lyric is distinctive to me. Are there any other pop songs that use the phrase?.

Mosca,

So close... It is actually Big Bad John ;-)

Now in the "Country" category, courtesy of my Dad:

I see you driving by just like a Phantom Jet
With your arm around some little Brunette

Based solely on Gialmere's hint, because I haven't seen Pinocchio since I was like 3, I'm going to guess When You Wish upon a Star sung by Jiminy Cricket.

Ding! Ding! Very good!!

Your 3-year old mind did indeed correctly channel the classic 1940 film Pinocchio. Of all the Disney songs ever written (and they are legion), the company still considers "When You Wish Upon a Star" to be its signature/representative tune.

Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

All right, let me keep things up to date.

Still in play...

Well, what happened next is hard to tell,
Some thought it was heaven others thought it was hell,
But the fact that something was among us was plain to see.

And now, in the category "Motown Funk", name that song...

The clothes she wears, her sexy ways
Make an old man wish for younger days, yeah, yeah
She knows she's built and knows how to please
Sure enough to knock a strong man to his knees

Thatís ďBrick HouseĒ. Great tune.

The one about the Phantom, itís sung by a woman and it dates some time after the Ď70s. Maybe Tanya Tucker? I donít know it yet, Iím trying to pair the lyric to a meter and a melody. Itís on the edge of my mind.

The Novelty Song is by Ray Stevens ("The Streak") and it's something about a squirrel or mouse getting loose in a revival meeting in the deep South, but I don't know the title.

Mosca,

You're on the right track, but the song is sung by a female group. Here is the whole first stanza:

Well, I was standing in line at the city bus stop
Soaked to the skin from ev'ry rain drop
I see you driving by just like a Phantom Jet
With your arm around some little Brunette
You say you won't be home because you're working late
Honey, I'm no fool, you've been out on a date
The lipstick on your collar gives your game away
It's strawberry red and mine's pink rose
