Hello Wizard, I was recently reading your comments in relation to the five cards Caribbean Stud Poker and I have a question in regards to the $1 side bonus. I am very well aware that in generally on the five card stud the odds are not great but I really like the game. Since 4 months ago in my local casino (I am from Sofia, Bulgaria) the player has the option to bet $1 side bonus bet on the dealer’s hand and if the dealer opens a flush or better you win. What they have done to calculate the payouts is dividing the initial payouts approximately by seven (as they have seven chairs on the table) so in case that the table is full and everyone bets the $1 side bet and if the dealer opens let say Full House each player receives $15 instead of the full payout of $70. The bet proves very popular and it has served as insurance and has saved me quiet few times. Please see below the pay scale used.
Payouts
Player Bonus Dealer Bonus
ROYAL FLUSH (Hearts Suited) 100% 100% 15%
FLUSH (Clubs, Hearts or Spades) 50% 50% 10%
STRAIGHT FLUSH $5,000 $700
4 OF A KIND $500 $75
FULL HOUSE $75 $15
FLUSH $50 $10
I personally feel that having the option to bet on the dealer’s hand is increasing the player’s odds but I would like to seek you professional opinion about this.
Thank you so much for taking your time to read this
