I've lost 2k at a table before and they offered me nothing. Chasing comps is pretty much a fools errand.

My wife and I are looking at getting a suite when we visit next year.

We will be paying as our level of play wouldn't even buy us a buffet comp, never mind a suite, and we don't want to risk waiting and trying the $20 (or even a $500) trick to try and get upgraded just on the off chance it might work.

We will be staying for 14 nights, prefer Staying on the Strip and are were wondering what experience people had with Suites in Vegas.

For our budget, we were looking at the Monaco Suites at the Monte Carlo, primarily for its location near to a CVS and the fact its an easy walk to most places we like. We also looked at the Tropicana and the 1 King 2 Room suite.

With the exchange rate what it is, we were looking at spending around $2500-$3000 for the hotel.

Pallazzo is out for obvious reasons.

Any suggestions?

I would contact a few AP's and make a deal with them. Feel free to PM me and I can ask around. You would probably have to stay at a few different places, I have no doubt someone could save you at least 50%, maybe more and it would be worth it for them and you. Obviously you would want the security of knowing when you got here nothing would go wrong. You could always have someone you trust verify the rooms. Or book as you normally would and once you are satisfied everything is cool and your set with any deal you made, simply cancel the reservations and pay a (small?) fee.

What is the obvious reason about Pallazzo? Price?

The shoddy way the Venetian treated the Wiz.

Thanks for the suggestions. Ill have a look around later.

Have you checked rates at either of these ? I have stayed at both and liked them both. The ELARA is closer to the strip. I have seen good deals for ELARA in the past on BOOKIT.com.

I just stayed at the Vdara last weekend and I enjoyed their rooms a lot. I had a Panoramic Suite. It is non gaming and that is a plus for me, I can get to places to game close enough. Also they have the tram that will get you to Monte Carlo and closer to where you like to gamble.

Ill be honest, and I hadn't considered these. Having previously stayed at the Best Western Mardi Gras (which i would recommend for anyone that drives and wants a cheap friendly place to stay) I just found that as we dont drive and are pretty lazy people off or north strip are not really for us. But thanks for the thought.

I think we might have a winner here. Just looked at the room and the prices and it seems like pretty much what we want. Thanks.

My first room was a corner suite, had to change rooms due to a few issues, no big deal, they upgraded me to the panorama suite. The only difference between the two rooms is the windows in the panorama suite give you a 270* view and it has a hall entering the room, the corner suite is the same room without the 270* view (though still has a nice view and lots of window) and the corner suite doesn't have the hallway. Both had the full fridge and kitchen. If I were to return, I would go with the corner suite just because it is cheaper for pretty much the same room.

Thanks for all your help, everyone.

The Boss has decided on a Vdara Suite at Vdara. She really likes the idea of a non gaming hotel, and the kitchenette and washer/dryer advertised also appeals, and thinks that room will be plenty big enough for us. So Im going to do what Im told.

lol I know the feeling. I have learned that when you have an idea, you should present it as if it were hers and then she thinks she is picking it. It takes practice but I am getting pretty good at it.

Also, I make sure I let her win a things like and make decisions occasionally where I couldn't care less about the results.
