They now have a no exceptions policy where you are required to pause for a camera to view you and also give your state ID to an attendant who copies / scans it before it is returned.
This is not good for AP's or others wishing to fly under the radar.
Do any Las Vegas casinos do this ... yet?
And yes they are using it to check for AP databases. I was told I was not allowed inside the Plainridge Park location and then a photo of me at the security entrance popped up in OSN marked as my last known appearance
It was my first visit ever!
Tiverton Casino Hotel and Twin River Casino are the only casinos in Rhode Island. They are both state owned and managed, so both probably have the ID requirement.Quote: darkozIt's being done in Rhode Island at least one Casino ...
Massachusetts licenses three casinos, Plainridge Park Casino being one of them, but each is managed by a different organization. Perhaps MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor have different requirements.
This is the first I heard about IDs - and not just for those near 21.

Rhode Island:
Riverton. Don't know didn't visit.
Twin River checked ID. Did not flag me however and in an unusual move checks ID when leaving as well (security said it's to know who is currently inside)
Massachusetts:. Only Plainridge scans all ID as mentioned above. Springfield you just have to lower your mask and Boston Encore as well
I called Ilani casino to clarify their ID procedure.
The fellow said they ask for it only between 8 PM and 8 AM.
He said what looks like a camera is really a thermal imager to authomatically check temp.
Quote: BleedingChipsSlowlyMrs. Chips reports no ID asked for when she entered Mohegan Sun this afternoon. She will be at Foxwoods tomorrow. I'll post whether or not they required an ID.
That's correct, neither Foxwoods nor Mohegan checked my ID.
Again so far only two Casinos have done it to me
Twin River and Plainridge.
It's not just looking at ID but scanning it into a database.
Twin River scans your ID leaving so they may just be keeping tabs on occupancy like they say.
But Plainridge absolutely used it to cross reference with OSN
Run through a hand held scanner upon entrance at all doors leading in.
Maybe checking for the age 21 requirement?
It was still a thing when I was there in early April 2021.
And based on a more recent trip, I am happy to report that apparently 95 % of the people in that area are vaccinated (NOT), because the casino had a sign requiring un-vaccinated people to continue to wear a mask.
whats osn?Quote: darkozBut Plainridge absolutely used it to cross reference with OSN

OSN. Oregon Surveillance Network.
Modern version of the Griffin Book
Only people with security clearance from Casinos can view what is written in OSN.
But that doesn't stop a good AP, lol
Quote: DRichI heard yesterday that Cosmo in Vegas is asking for ID's unless you have a room key.
That room key thing won't last. Just get an extra for your underage friend or sell it when your done.

. Ive had to show a room key to get on a hotel elevator for years at various hotels. This isnt new.Quote: Zcore13That room key thing won't last. Just get an extra for your underage friend or sell it when your done.

A hotel is not a casino floor. A little bit different when you are dealing with compliance and license issues.

I saw somebody playing Fortune 88 and they won the Major JP for $816 and the JP reset to $800, but the machine printed out a voucher instead of adding on the credits. I'm not sure if racinos tax at the cage when you cash in your voucher for amounts over $600, because it is a state lottery thing. The winner only had about $46 of credits left on the machine after the voucher printed out.
The racino was quite crowded, much more than the casino I normally go to, and nobody was wearing masks for COVID despite whatever upsurge in COVID cases are going on right now. The racino is closer to a big city, so that may be why it's so crowded, but I was disappointed when it first opened that it was slots only. I didn't see any bubble craps or VBJ but the video poker may have a better pay table. The racino has smaller jackpots and very few 5 figure JPs compared to the casino.
Quote: ChumpChangeI walked into the local racino to take a look around. There were guards there scanning the back of driver's licenses at the door. Nobody is getting in without getting scanned. What they use the scan for, I don't know. But if I get a Player's card, I can get $2 off the $24 buffet.

They are using it to identify AP's. I was hitting one racino when I got made (slot malfunctioned and the attendant insisted surveillance check the history of the machine before giving me a receipt for the cashier. I knew that wasn't gonna go good. I had been using another players card at the time).
Sure enough that card and my own personal card were turned off the next day. Rewards desk informed me I was observed using another players card.
I was using like forty lol. Kept moving forward with the operation for about two months until I got stopped at the door. My ID was flagged as a no entry. (Still hitting them. I got employees duh).
Another time I was stopped in a different state because I had been identified from OSN. They didn't tell me. Just said I was banned. Hadn't even hit them yet.
I checked OSN a week later and there was my photo from that specific casino as my last known sighting.
So yes, they definitely are scanning for undesirables.
Well, that's how it's supposed to work.Quote: darkozQuote: 100xOddswhats osn?

Every person entering the casino is required to stand for a moment in a taped off box on the floor and look directly at the camera above, before being permitted to enter the casino.
Quote: ChumpChangeWould getting your ID checked at the door of a RACINO alert the IRS?

Alert them to what?
Entering a casino isn't a taxable event. Maybe I just enjoy the buffet.
And no, the IRS isn't tied into those systems to my knowledge.
