Joseph was hoarder/collector. Spent a week in house with no electricity for 3 months, 2 dogs, I cat running loose in same. Could not just haul everything to the dump. Had to sort boxes and boxes and boxes, and closets and a dirt basement too. Pit good stuff in storage. Joe's dementia not better. Obvious will never leave nursing home. SIGH Can't afford another 2 grand for storage. Will try
and auction some off, maybe get smaller space than 10 by 12.
Not going to google names of kids I grew up with, or guys I collected from or hustled with. Hard to remember real names LOL
3 fingers Joe = Joseph Broccolini Jr No-nose Miller = James Miller Chuck the Pistol = Charles Pistorio
All that popped up last year was obituaries. Including first love of my life. My cousin Cookie. First cousin, both Catholics. SIGH
Anyway will drive to AC. Vacation there as a kid. Josie and I even saw the Diving Horse once.
Any suggestions: Other than tracking down Aces Of Spades That is.

Didn't know you needed a divorce attorney.

I suggest a bit of ocean bathing.
Try visiting Wildwood and Cape May.
Quote: Doc...so I can collect my souvenir chips from Harrah's (no longer the Marina) and Margaritaville.
Resorts wasn't fully overhauled. It's "Maragaritaville at Resorts" or some such nonsense and they still use the same Resorts chips. I asked a few people about them changing the chips and they said the casino was too cheap to pay for it.
Bob, just want to make sure ACES does not overbet his bankroll. Only lawyer I ever needed excelled in CRIMINAL LAW !

Well, dang! Even the Margaritaville at the Flamingo on the LV strip has/had their own chips, even though they use Flamingo chips, too.
Thanks for the (disappointing) info.
There are 2 attractions I would consider -especially since they may not be around long (ie, likely to be wiped out by the next storm in the next few months).
One is Resorts new Landshark bar and grill , not necessarily for the avg food or somewhat pricey beer, but if you sit out on the elevated Oceanfront deck, it kinda feels as if you're hanging out over the ocean, fairly unique . As I said, it's so close to the ocean, it's hard to imagine how it will stand up to a severe storm.
The other is the newly created, for millions of $, "Revel Beach". It is new & uncrowded. It has already washed away in the past & the govt. may be reluctant to keep replenishing - if it keeps happening.
also -IMO- there is no reason to go outside AC for beach/ocean as long as you avoid central boardwalk area- the beach widens & becomes less crowded as you go down past Trop, ACH ,& just past these hotels is often almost empty.
If you are in AC on a Friday go all the way down beach to the Atlantic Club and be treated like a local. Earn one point on your card and get a free buffet and free parking. It doesn't take long even at penny machines.
Peoplewatch. Take Josie for a rolling chair ride. Be sure to negotiate the price because it is expected. Stroll the Boardwalk while singing or humming "Under The Boardwalk" by the Drifters even though most say it was written about Coney Island. Walk to the Steel Pier and see the sleazy carnival. The diving horse has been replaced by a "slingshot" and helicopter rides.
Go across from the Taj and watch Frank feed and care for some of the Boardwalk cats. He's a former Marine who says very little but he's a good guy and he loves his kitties. He has named most of them. Throw him a few bucks for supplies.
Walk the beach at night and see how many couples you catch doing the nasty in the sand. Throw them a few bucks to stop. If you get bored drive to Connecticut. I made it from the Boardwalk to Mohegan Sun in four hours the other day. Above all enjoy yourselves.
Quote: 1BBGo to Revel while they still have free parking. Check the Pearl Room to see if the good VP has returned. Go to Ultra Lounge to see where Ace plays. Go up one level to the now empty poker room. The lights are off but the TVs are still on and you can enjoy them in peace.

1BB - excellent list of things to see and do!
Buzz - would like to meet up - keep me posted!
Under the boardwalk 1964 I was in the middle of a 4 year sentence in USAF. Better to serve my time there than at Club Fed.
Julius THE LORD Salisbury was serving a 1 year term for tax evasion, and feds had a hot nut for anybody who had collected for him.
Imagine how pissed they were when his pulled his famous disappearing act in 1970. LOL
Seriously Julius lost a lot. His wife died in 1994 and his daughter told me her mother never met or had a phone call from him after 1970.
Just a few letters SAD !

I made it to AC today and stopped by Resorts. It turns out they do have Margaritaville chips but only in the $5 denomination - sort of a commemorative chip. I picked up one, even though it doesn't fit quite right with the rest of my collection of $1 chips. I guess I already have Euro chips in several denominations, so this should be OK. It's not the only inconsistency in my life.
Is this an urban legend , Doc ?

Crap! Not only did I run away from the area when (I promise not because...) you visited, but there's another chip I need to collect!

I noticed this year that those guys have clearly posted prices on their rigs, and I don't remember that from the past. Is negotiation still possible? Can they charge less than the posted rate per unit of distance, or is the distance the negotiable part? There's obviously no fare meter, so I suppose anything is possible...

This is a highly regulated business with very, very strict rules and there are rules for everything. The rates are by the block and are supposed to start at $5 for one to five blocks. A sign with the rates has always been required and not just any sign. It must be in a certain location, be the proper size and even be the mandated colors.
I believe the operators are free to negotiate prices. I see it a lot. One thing to remember is that the posted rates are for one OR two people. Some of these guys are known for quoting a rate and saying it was per person upon arrival. It is not.
Now I definitely need to take Josie for a ride and see if someone tries to rip me off !
If it's a nice day the new Margaritaville place right on the beach is nice. For a drink. You are right on the beach. The food is overpriced and bleh...but having a beer on the beach while feeling the ocean breeze....ahhhh nice.
Sure might have been different if New jersey politicians had invested some of that tax money in AC, rebuilt boardwalk, attractions,
improved surrounding neighborhood. etc. !
Quote: BuzzardAlso familiar with AC hospitality. Remember back in 80's when AC casino mentality was why charge $5 for a burger when you can get $15 for it. Gamblers have long memories and do not see good things in the future for AC.

Google Resorts beach cam. The yellow umbrellas are the outside dining for Margaritaville. Watch out for seagulls! The Landshark is the one on the beach.

This sounds awesome. Some day I'll make it out to AC.
Especially the cats. I'm a cat lover but I recently had to give my cats away (found good homes for both of them) as I moved in with my girlfriend who is seriously allergic. It's sad, but the trade off was worth it :).
Anyway, there are a bunch of cats in the alley behind our apartment; most of them belong to the houses and I don't believe there are any strays. But several of them are friendly and I will give them a little head-scratch when I see them around. Keeps me a little bit saner.
Are the boardwalk cats in AC friendly or are they pretty much feral don't-try-to-pet-me-or-I'll-bite you type? Just curious. Some day.
Google Alley Cat Allies - Atlantic City.
