Quote: vendman1Good to see you are back on the horse ace. I was there last weekend...alas duty calls this weekend. Good Variance.
Thank you very much!!! Enjoy your weekend.
Still waiting for my room to be ready...
Quote: Mikey75Good to see you back Ace. I'd love to make the trip to AC. Been checking flights and looking for a time to get away. My wife has said she would rather go to AC over Vegas so I know a trip is somewhere in my future. Just not sure when.
There are no decent blackjack games under $100 minimums and there is no surrender anywhere in town at any minimum. The single deck games all pay 6:5 for blackjack. My family and I love AC, have friends and relatives in the NY/NJ area and visit frequently but I no longer play blackjack there unless I find a weak dealer or some other opportunity.
Since you're a blackjack player I want to make sure you know this before making plans. I think everyone should experience AC at least once preferably in the summer.
Bellagio..
Went to a CET property to pick up my Diamond Coupon book for the year...
Upon picking it up, I was offered a Total Rewards Diamond windbreaker or
$40 FSP
Although it took me hours to decide, I went with the $40 FSP
I sauntered over to a Video Poker machine (with nary a clue as to which machine has +EV)
It was Double Bonus Video Poker ($5max.)
I played and nothing on the first hand
second hand got a pair of Queens for $5
third hand nothing
fourth hand kept an Ace of hearts and ended up with a flush for $25
fifth hand 3 3's for $15
sixth hand nothing
seventh hand pair of Aces for $5
eighth hand nothing
Trip total is +50

You're ahead, go home. Good job..
Quote: aceofspadesA little taste of action...
Geez, Ace. All free slot play goes into the $5 Wheel of Fortune. Go big, my friend!
(Seriously: my reasoning is that I won't miss that small an amount to the degree that I'd want to have it... but a $500 hit on the wheel, that is real money. So, often I spin out, but occasionally I hit big. I never remember the spinouts, but the hits are worth the fun.)

I normally do that but when I used my $1k free sot play on $5 WoF I got only 2 spins the whole time - so for $1k FSP, I only won $235
This past weekend I had $205, $140 at Borgata ($40 regular and $100 "Mystery Bonus") and $65 at Revel ($25 regular and $40 weekend special). I hit for $400 at Revel and $850 at Borgata.
Sat down to play my first session...two guys at the table and guy #1 asks me if I play Basic Strategy (very accusatorily )
I replied ' Yes indeed'
Shoe begins with guy1 playing $500 chip and guy#2 playing $100
1st hand dealer blackjack
guy#1 martingales it to $1k
guy #2 flat betting
I had $100 up
I am dealt 8,8 versus dealer 2
split them out, get a 3 for an 11 double down draw an Ace
second 8 get a 10 for 18
guy #2 has a 17
guy #1 has a 10,2 and announces "I am not hitting this, I got a feeling the dealer is going to bust" (now, mind you, I normally would not care about this type of nonsense BUT, this is the same guy who asked me if I play Basic Strategy when I sat down)
dealer turns over a 10 for a 10,2 and :drum roll: pulls the 9
for the half shoe I played, guy #1 refused to hit 12 against 2 or 3 (always announcing his 'feeling') and the dealer made their hand every time
guy #2 then decides he is not going to hit 16 v. 10 anymore (of course, this worked against the table as well - BUT, at least he didn't ask me if I was going to play Basic Strategy before I sat down at the table)
so, lost $2k in half a shoe
absolutely ridiculous
I am raging!!!
!%$#@^&(*&)!*%#

Best to lose at the start of a weekend, you have 2 days
to catch up.
Sat down and was basically up and down for the first two shoes...
Then Mr. Sharkskin suit sat down to play 3 hands (I was at the table plus another lady and gentleman who I have played with before)
Well, it was a $25 table and Mr. Sharkskin cashed in for $10k
He proceeded to play $25 a hand flat betting...
He originally was playing basic strategy
then became a "I stay on 16 v. 17, 18, 19, 20 and Ace up" player
(pretty sure he wasn't counting because he stayed flat betting (yes yes yes we all know I flat bet but my Speed Count sucks so nobody should get on me about that, right?)
I left the table down $1k
Switched to another table to play heads up
The dealer beat me 10 hands in a row (she had or made 20 on each and every hand, including two doubles and a split)
Then, on hand 11 she pushed me on a blackjack
goodbye to another $1700
Trip at that point -$4700
After dinner session:
decided to leave the high limit pit and play outside
I made a nice comeback of $1k on the first shoe
took a mini-break for a snack
made $500 on the next shoe
went to bed
Good morning mini-session:
played 7 hands, made another $500
trip is now -$2700
Clear head and comeback ready!
Got a double down on 11 on the first hand, dealt a 9, dealer goes 2, 10, 9
three hands later another double down, dealer goes 6, 5, 10
5 hands later split 3,3 v 5 get, 3,10 and 3, 9 dealer goes 5, 7, 5
then I got a blackjack WOO-HOO!
then, moments later, this "idiocy" happens:
7,7 v dealer 6
split:
hand 1: 7, dealt 7, split out again - hand #1: 7,4 double get 10 for 21
hand 2: 7, dealt 2 double get 9 for 18
hand 3: 7, dealt 7, split out again - hand #3: 7,3 double get 8 for 18
hand 4: 7, dealt 4 double get 6 for 17
dealer: 6, 5, 2, 2, Ace, King
WOO-HOO!!!
shoe ended +450
Trip is now only - 2250
Won first three hands then a Blackjack
+450
Early afternoon session #2:
Basiclaly up and down, down and up, end of shoe +250
Trip is -1550
Too late for that..

I had a hand like this not too long ago, except it was with 9s against a dealer 5. I ended up with 4 hands but I think I only doubled 1 of them. Dealer busted! My bet on that hand was $75 and I colored up and left. The damned thing is that I should have been betting $100 or 2x$75 with the count (my max bet in this situation), but I was trying to get a gauge on the heat at a place I hadn't been back to for a long time...anyway, lesson of the day is to always bet with the count!
has to be almost as much yin as yang because you're
edge is so tiny. Yet people always expect there to be
way more yin than yang and get real upset when there
isn't. Don't do that.
hand #1 lost
hand #2 blackjack
shoe ended +50
*I had to stop due to certain outside forces beyond my control----namely, a man and his wife decided to sit down and wait for the next shoe----the problem was that one or both of them must have been wearing a diaper or something because the stench of feces was unbearable*
I quickly colored in and left the table - now going to grab dinner then play afterwards
Trip is now -1500
