I will document here my Crypto investments. I have been buying the last month or so.
Disclaimer:. This is not an adventure! It's a journey!
It took my son a year of haranguing me to finally look into crypto as it sounded like a bunch of hocus pocus, pyramid scheme, fake money type of stuff.
When hearing about digital currency I kept thinking of pixel advertising and Daniel Tew's MillionDollarHomePage which helped make Tea a million bucks, spurred hundreds of copycats which made zilch because the novelty is what really sold a bunch of basically worthless pixels. (Even Tew's second website, a bigger pixel style page did awful)
But after much research I recognize the value of crypto WHEN DONE RIGHT. There are about a few thousand crypto coins to choose from but many are junk trying to cash in on a fad.
Anyway so far I have I have purchased the following
Stellar Lumens
YCC
Smartland
INX
I have my eyes set on a few others which if I purchase I will add here.
Technically I also purchased Doge but I already sold them so not holding (made $100).
Will discuss Doge first next post

Curious why you chose those 4? Are you investing a couple hundred in each?

I will devote individual posts as to my reasons for each one.
Just didn't want long winded posts like some threads.
As these aren't trip reports full of snappy photos too much reading isn't fundamental (and I probably show my age with that slogan.)
A few hundred in some, over ten grand in others. I probably will also add more if the price comes down or I don't find other crypto I am interested in.
Truthfully, I would have liked to invest even more but I am in the midst of my biggest Casino operation of my career and it's currently money hungry. Sucking up my resources like crazy. A 1000+ players card operation at one single location so it's been a huge investment for months now

I am 100 x more interested in this than your crypto guesses! But good luck on both!

I don't want to hijack my own thread so I will make it quick.
A particular Casino in a particular state that I have hit before instituted about half a dozen ways to stop me from using other players cards.
And I have figured out how to circumvent all of them.
They are pretty confident I am beaten. And I intend to shove my revenge so far up there keister's they will never forget.
Mini-vans full of people have been shepherded to this location from different states. At least half a dozen People doing the recruitment.
About 90% of my crew is on this operation. The other ten percent is handling other business.
Okay that's enough. Back to crypto!

Let's start with Smartland.
It's my biggest investment at the moment. I really feel it's my diamond in the rough.
There are four things I look for in a crypto.
Purpose, Purchase ease, Price, Proliferation.
1) Purpose:. What service is it trying to achieve that gives it value above just being currency that is traded. Do I believe in that business model. How likely are they to be successful in my opinion.
2) Purchase ease: This may sound obvious but there have been Crypto that satisfied 1, 3 and 4 but was so difficult to purchase that it became obviously a pass. If I have difficulty buying it so will others and crypto that's difficult to buy, isn't going to be brought and that limits growth.
3) Price: I am against purchase of crypto that is too high in price. The lower the better. It's all a bit of a craps shoot so I am looking for low prices that can pop
4) Proliferation:. Okay I was trying to keep up the P word progression. Scarcity is probably the better choice. I am looking for coins that are scarce. Bitcoin is limited to 21 million which is partially why it's so highly valued. There are some coins that have billions to be mined and those will never reach the heights of Bitcoin individual prices
That said, number 4 is both the hardest to find as an option and the one I am willing to overlook if the first three are to my satisfaction.
Smartland, however satisfies all four conditions.
WHAT IS SMARTLAND?
Smartland is trying to uniquely tie the physical investment world to crypto. It's tokenizing real estate and other physical assets.
Here is how it works.
Example:. A cherry farmer wants a quick loan to expand his business. Instead of taking out a loan from the bank he pays a fee to Smartland, signs a contract, which gives Smartland a stake in the business as collateral and gets his money from Smartland.
Smartland tokens are the investment capital but the Smartland tokens also derive their value from the physical assets partially owned by Smartland.
Token purchasers are basically investing in physical real estate like a cherry farm or a manufacturing plant or any number of real world ventures.
And yes, I keep mentioning cherry farms. It was part of their proof of concept before they launched. They actually did launch a deal with a cherry farmer and own a piece of one.
Qualified token holders (at this point those with a certain minimum of tokens owned) get a share of profits. Yes, tokenized profit sharing!
That satisfied my first "P", Purpose
Purchase ease:. Smartland has launched as part of the Stellar Network so if you have a Lobster wallet it takes all of ten seconds to swap Lumens for Smartland tokens. And if you don't have Stellar it's pretty easy to open a Stellar account.
Price:. Smartland just launched in April. It's literally been available for four weeks! And yet it's not available like most tokens for pennies. It's already gone as high as $19 although the crypto market drop took it down to $10. A great buy at that price. I have 800 Smartland tokens at the moment. I intend to add more.
Proliferation:. Remember Bitcoin is limited to only 21 million coins? Well, Smartland is limited to only seven million coins!!!
They clearly are looking at the Smartland token as a digital currency of value in the future and so am I.
BTW if you want to see just how well another finance coin also limited to 7 million did, check out Yearn Financial which launched just one year ago for possibilities of growth.
Next post I will go into my Stellar Lumens purchase.
