Now, if you want to watch a GREAT recent MCU movie with amazing graphics and a complex story you CAN follow, with a character who makes a personal journey, well...you can't beat Dr. Strange. Fantastic, wonderful movie. Better than the Thors, Hulk, even the Iron Mans, which were 3 great movies.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

You wouldnít.

This is the culmination of 22 movies over 11 years. There are so many callbacks and characters that literally just show up for seconds that you would be completely baffled by.

And the three-hour running length would be a chore to sit through if you donít know whatís going on.

I think you're overestimating how confusing this would be. I'm sure they realized that at least half the people who see this movie would just be random people who don't see every superhero movie five times, but see the occasional blockbuster.

Again, a major goal with a movie like this is to exclude as few people as possible from seeing it. Can't be too smart, too edgy, too dialog driven (overseas audience), too anything. They certainly don't want to make it exclusively for die hard funny book aficionados.

I'm sure there are a lot of allusions to other movies, but I REALLY doubt you need to be familiar with 22 movies to get this one. You're probably just like, "oh I guess Profesor Ray Gun Eyes was some guy that Captain Underpants fought in the past... WE." Then you continue to watch a bunch of clowns with magic powers fly around and fight each other.

I saw one of the middle Harry Potter movies. I didn't 100% get everything happening, but it basically made sense.

You definitely donít need to watch all 22.

But these would be particularly helpful to see before this one:

The Avengers
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Thor: The Dark World
Captain America: Civil War
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1
Dr. Strange
Avengers: Infinity War

In this particular case, he's really not overestimating it. If you don't have the background, they provide exactly NONE of it in these movies.

Anything is possible. But in every other case, Hollywood makes movies like this with little bits you'd have to see the other movies to get. But they want everyone to be able to follow the movie, so the rest of the movie is comprehensible even if you don't get them.

It would be really dumb of them to make a low brow movie targeting a mass audience for a couple of hours of mindless entertainment, knowing that half the audience wouldn't be able to enjoy it.

I just don't think they are that dumb. I mean, I'm sure the movie itself is as dumb as all the others. But the people making it are smart and very good at their jobs.

Maybe there is just a little bubble of people who do see all these movies, and it's very rare for someone outside that bubble to see them at all? That's the only way I can see them doing it. Even then, you have to expect that SOME of the audience are normal people who just decided to see a big blockbuster.

Well I'm F***ed, since now you guys have me wanting to watch this movie, but I think I only watched 1.5 of the movies you listed.

Unrelated:
I started watching Glass a few weeks ago since I really enjoyed Unbreakable and Split. I was enjoying it but I got interrupted and haven't finished it yet. I'm at the part where Mr. Glass has been caught leaving his room at night and they are about to do something to his brain.
