I want to take that back. It's actually gotten so easy, they have women and children doing it.

We even had special sacks to carry the money in. lol

Was a day, when they even had special lineman bars where we could cash payroll checks.

Like other jobs I suppose, no one knows what it's like until they are standing in it.

Yup. One of the features of depression. The game is in turning into a positive. Sometimes you can wrangle the bull into destroying parts of you you wanted changed anyways, and you can make huge strides in life with no real effort on it, save the energy expended trying to wrassle the bull. Other times, you get your teeth kicked in. Happy to say I've avoided the latter and almost got my 8sec outta this sumbish.

Maybe that's the only difference between those who destroy selves and those who destroy others. Maybe we just understand who's responsible for it all. Would be interesting to be able to see the minds of a Paddock vs those of others.

And I couldn't even get a foot in the door as a meter man. Makes one wonder.

What's that saying. Something about walking a mile in someone else's shoes in respect that is how you feel about your job and it sounds like it sucks. On occasion I will drive uber and about 6 months ago I took a girl to usps on a Sunday. She told me that she was considered new but had been there 3 years. Was doing a route 5 days a week and had to do a 6th day doing amazon packages or something. She wasnt waiting for a permanent route to open so she wouldn't be considered temp or something. She claimed she was making great money and I am pretty sure it was more than 17 an hour. I thought letter carriers made in the 20s?

The stress levels of a bad job aren't always about hard labor though. It can be the creation of impossible tasks. For instance piling on hour jobs which really take an hour and half to complete. And before you finish you get another assignment. Or constantly interrupting someone with other tasks so they are constantly bouncing around. Anything that adds to lack of stability and control. You can make a complete hell for someone sitting in front of a desk with no hard labor at all.

That is very true. Today spent 3 hours doing something that should have only taken 45 min. Put me way behind first the day and probably the rest of the week.

Meter man is like a paper route. I think that job [lineman] would be perfect for you and you for it. It likes people who don't mind banging against solid objects, multiple times per day. It is a high contact occupation.

I didn't know you were looking ?

I think I mentioned in the past to start by contacting the local union. There are ways. They don't just take everybody.

Although there is huge demand [I have never witnessed this much demand], some of the hiring may not be in your backyard.

Maybe that money advisor deals with linemen whose wives' make even more money?

And as for the topic at hand, i'd still be interested in knowing how much of his wealth he lost in the casinos...
