Quote: Lemieux66There's a guy who thinks I owe him $4400 for sports betting losses. He's not a bookie, but he's the cousin of my good friend. He basically collects losses and pays the wins every week. A scoundrel . The kind of guy whom(and he's done this) tried to teach people new card games and attempted to make bets on the exact same game. Not even a practice game for free. He will
also cheat in chess, monopoly, etc.
Anyway, a couple of years ago I got into sports betting. It's stupid, but this was pre-counting BJ etc. I had my winning weeks and losing weeks. More losing weeks as expected. I come to find that other people got kickbacks on losses. I never received them. Other people have received kickbacks, but I was alerted that I would not get one(a red flag, but I found out about those deep into my betting run) He also kept a percentage of my losses. I kind of understand that, yet he lied and said he did in general. At one point, I was deep in the hole and told him to close the account. I was DONE. At this point, I knew what I owed and did pay that part back. He told his cousin(who secretly hates him and tells me all the things he says about me) to "keep him betting" so he can keep profiting off of me. I was pretty addicted so he attempted to profit off that. He even attempted to bribe my friend to convince him to keep me going. So, with all that said, does it make sense to pay him back? Keep in mind he had to pay the bookie himself which makes me happy.
Edit: I added a few things to the original post because I reminded of more details. This happened well over a year ago. On a side note, if the Spurs and Lakers in Game 4 of the playoffs in 2013 could score 4 points over the last 3 minutes of the game this situation doesn't happen.
People can vote what they want, but I am NOT trolling with that thread. Everything I'm saying is 100% honest and how I feel.
Quote: GWAEwhy do you care to even have a poll, its not like you are going to do it anyways.
He didn't start the poll, I did.
Some say he is trolling with this thread, some say he has a bet on how many responses he can get, he says that he honestly wants our opinion (but won't act on it even if we are nearly all in favor of him paying his debt), etc. I don't really care too much why (in other words, if he wins the bet that someone says exists, that is fine--but I hope that the other guy welches on the net just for grins and giggles), it is just one of those topics that draws a lot of comments now and will disappear shortly.

No bets. Just wanted opinions.
I do not see deadbeat asshole as an option on the poll.
Just asking.

I was trying to do this without getting anyone else suspended in spite of what I think...they can't suspend me for thoughts yet!!
I guess they could suspend me for multiple threads but a better idea would be to combine the threads--since I can't do that and wanted to do a poll so he could ignore those results, too, whatever happens, happens!!
Quote: BuzzardI do not see deadbeat asshole as an option on the poll.
Uh-oh.
Damn, someone is at the door. I will be right back.

oops didn't realize that. I gotta stop using my phone. It sucks when smart phones are smarter than the user.
Quote: terapinedTroll with obviously no life. He sat in front of his computer all day and all night responding to posts in that thread.
my guess is he busted out last night and had nothing to do.

I question those who would pay him back. Where are your guts? Where is your pride? I'm not letting people step on me. I'm getting them before they get me. In fact, no, he ALREADY got me for 500 in kickbacks.

You don't get it do you? You've got some goofy code you think you live by that justifies welching on your bet. Welching should be grounds for suspension; insulting a welch should be excused. He took care of bets for you and you don't say anything about him promising a rebate or anything...just that you found at others got them. Once you found that out, you should have told him he was a piece of crap and paid him, even if you were pissed at him. That is the code that should be followed. Once you were done with him, then you find someone new to take care of your action who treats you better.
It is beyond simple but you refuse to admit it.
Pay the man! He did his part as he told you he would; you should do yours. I don't care how you feel about it or your code--you still owe the man.
Quote: BuzzardI do not see deadbeat asshole as an option on the poll.
Sorry Buzz, but I can't let that slide. However, you're still good with me. I'm sure the team appreciates the sacrifice.
Screwing the intermediary because he is not a good guy is still not right--he had to pay for your bets on your behalf. Twist the logic however you'd like but you owe him the money.
Quote: gts4everI voted troll. I can fathom a person not paying a debt if there are little/no negative consequences. I CANNOT imagine that someone believes it is justified because of the reasons stated.
Not only a troll, this guy lives here. That thread was his entire life for 2 days. About 80 posts in 2 days.
Starts 739p 31jul, just 7 posts goes tosleep.
Back 657am and goes on a mad tear posting all day and night with no breaks, 54 posts over 15 hrs.
stops at 1036p, gets up at 310am and goes on another tear, 17 posts in a short 3 to 4 hr span
Dude, Mario, you need help. There is more to life then a troll thread. Take a step out the door. Get some fresh air and sun. Trying living in the real world, can be really fun.
I think you also either know this, or your moral code is so far out of whack that you just can't see.

I'm having a great time at Foxwoods right now. You guys are the ones who keep resurrecting this thread. Heck, there's a thread I didn't even start going.

My moral code is of a person who values respecting others over a debt. The respecting part is more important. You see the debt as more important. That's fine. Everyone has their own viewpoint.

I guess you can. At least your suspension length is decreasing as your suspensions increase. It looks like a reverse Martingale so suspension number five should bring you back to even.
The character and hatred for the person he borrowed money from doesn't matter. You borrowed from him (effectively to make bets with a bookie).
You pay your debts, you don't go looking online for people to support your tenuous reasons not to pay.
You could settle for less. Tell him you took $500 in a sneaky way. I'm adding triple damages which means here is $2400, but if You take it, we have settled. You just don't want to pay or can't, so why not Just keep it real?Quote: Lemieux66I question those who would pay him back. Where are your guts? Where is your pride? I'm not letting people step on me. Quote: thecesspitThe answer is clearly Lem66 thinks he is justified in not paying back, and hoped that others would support his decision. Clearly, not.

Think of money as a tool. He values money so much that he would lie and cheat to get more so obviously it's very important to him. The thing I can do to best crush him(and teach him a lesson about how not to treat people) is to not pay him.
Imagine if I did pay. He would think his actions are justified. He might do it to someone else. One of YOU!

I can't tell him I know about it. Sworn to secrecy by his cousin. The guy can't know his cousin is telling me what he's saying.

I'm down with that. Some things are inexcusable. Would the forum allow advocating Genocide? Advocating Racial Supremacy? Posting of Snuff films?
Advocating Welching is on the same order.
After all, I am familiar with the word Odious:
odious synonyms:
revolting, repulsive, repellent, repugnant, disgusting, offensive, objectionable, vile, foul, abhorrent, loathsome, nauseating, sickening, hateful, detestable, execrable, abominable, monstrous, appalling, reprehensible, deplorable, insufferable, intolerable, despicable, contemptible, unspeakable, atrocious, awful, terrible, dreadful, frightful, obnoxious, unsavory, unpalatable, unpleasant, disagreeable, nasty, noisome, distasteful
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=odious+synonyms
but I think the guy sees none of this. Buzzard, you are my hero for taking a bullet for the rest of us.

Fancy words, which mean what exactly? Compensating for something.

Meh. I'm unlikely to be 4 grand in hock for sports bets.
You seem to be unwilling to take responsibility for your own actions, and want to take responsibility for his.
Your life.

They haven't paid the owner of this site for the right to say what they want here--he makes the rules and the Green Monsters enforce them.
Quote: VCUSkyhawkIf you find those words fancy your vocabulary must not be too great.
What sort of attempt at insult is that. Why can't the so intellectually liberated ones add to the debates?
I was merely questioning the fact that most here care to make something of a bet in comparison to the bigger problems of society, itself, as referenced.
Quote: TaraBCFancy words, which mean what exactly? Compensating for something.
Yes, people who know me say I must be compensating for something all the time. I'm busted.
But I will say this: I love to stomp welchers and those who would defend them, sock puppets included. I call it Compensation alright, compensation for missing earnings.

As long as the owner skims the slots statistics - not to mention Bovada of past - they've paid him quite well.
Just because he's got his cup out now, doesn't mean that he's an "untouchable" without dues.

Tara if you look through both threads you will see that I have been adding to the commentary. I just took a moment to point out that you were mocking somebody's post.

What? The Wiz owns the site; he makes the rules. Why don't you go ahead and see how you do if you insult a member in good standing (oh--there is a reason that Lem66 should be allowed to be insulted--he isn't really in "good standing" with the board as a welch...opinion only!!)? I'm not sure what your point is exactly, so maybe I have what you are trying to say wrong...

I've thought about this, but I like to think I have some respect for free speech, plus I hate to start going down that slippery slope. Some tough situations banning extreme speech and bet welching would include:
1. When keyser allegedly welched on a bet with Mission. He claims he never officially made the bet, but about 4 out 5 forum members voted he did, including me.
2. When a forum member recently expressed glee when to Las Vegas police officers were gunned down in cold blood while having lunch.
3. When a forum member advocated legalizing hunting down and killing illegal aliens crossing the border, including women and children.

To me the slope isn't slippery at all. This is a gambling website. An admitted welcher has no place here. Period. We often refer to this forum as your home. You letting known welchers into your home?
You want a known welcher at the next WoV gathering?
Regardless of anything else, let me say categorically: IMHO, Your sites = Your rules. You are the ultimate authority here, don't be afraid to impose your law. I too run forums and such judgement calls go with the territory. But your judgements are, by definition, not wrong, regardless, because you own the whole enterprise. Worst case is you lose more members than you win, but to thine own self be true.
FWIW, I consider TaraBC to have been extremely disrespectful to you. Kudos for advocating extremely free speech and being so tolerant.
Also, IMHO, Welchers like Lemmie can dig their own graves and don't need banning as they render themselves as outcasts without much help.

You are the one who is lying and cheating to get extra money, not him.
Every single thing that you are saying about him is true about you. However, it doesn't appear to be true of him. If we take everything that you have said at face value, he has done absolutely nothing wrong and you have stolen from him. He is a better man than you.
