Both are winners almost every year. How to pick between them? I'll go with Peterson as he had the second highest rushing total ever when coming back from ACL repair. Manning had a great season, but not even among the top 3 this year. I don't think there are any other viable candidates.

Can't say it any better than that!

Denver in the playoff after being THE ?-mark of the year. P. Manning gonna get a lot of "familiar" voting. Stats aside, Peyton may have had the more career-threatening injury.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.

I'm biased as a Denver fan, but I agree about the career-threatening part. ACLs repairs are pretty common-place, although AP has definitely come out of it with his speed intact (AFAICT, I don't watch the Vikings much).
When Denver signed Peyton I was very upset as I thought his career was over - I just assumed on his first big sack, his neck would act up and he would be out for the rest of the season. Wow, how wrong was I! His numbers have been great, but not best in the league as SOOPOO noted. But after however many neck surgeries...eh, either would deserve it.

I have never understood MVP. Ernie Banks won it two years in a row. Does that mean the Cubs could not have finished in last place without Ernie ??

Tis but the casket
that lies here,
The gem that filled it
Sparkles yet
