It occurs to me that we spend a lot of idle time driving, and this is time which could (arguably) be put to use gambling.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I haven't figured out HOW to do it, but it is a new frontier, at least to me.

With all the interactive technology on our persons and in our vehicles, surely it must be possible to construct a game which does not really distract from driving, but is compelling / addictive enough to capture our attention.

It might be illegal now, but maybe not in the future; look at the marijuana laws in Washington and Colorado for example.

Two cars can play 'chicken'.
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder

Yeah, but I was thinking of some mindless game that is compelling enough to play for hours on end, by yourself, and has a potential for a decent payday.

That last part would rule out pocket pool.

guess a number between 1 and 10....it pays 8 1/2 to 1.......If I could pipe this game into cars over their on-star system and link it to some sort of pre paid gambling card like what you use for road tolls I could make MILLIONS....LOL

Casino software is already in place in many airliners. Having similar in autos would be a natural next step. As far has mindless, Keno would be the way to go.

Mindless? This is exactly the problem with cell phone use in cars.

People are so hung-up with people taking their hand off the wheel to handle the phone, but that's not the problem.

The problem is taking your eyes off the road and having to think about the conversation while also trying to drive.

You're proposing a new distraction!

I have been known to listen to horse races that I have wagered on while I'm driving. That's as close as I have gotten.

Don't the tears in your eyes interfere with driving ?
Shed not for her the bitter tear Nor give the heart to vain regret Tis but the casket that lies here, The gem that filled it Sparkles yet

Maybe drive a Tesla to a WalMart in Pennsylvania and play online casinos from your 5G phone (or hotspotted tablet) or the Tesla touchscreen. Saves on tolls on the PA turnpikes and actually having to drive another 100 miles to get to the casinos. Teslas will keep the interior of the car at a perfect temperature. My local casino has 8 Tesla charging stations in the parking lot. Just have to watch out for security guards in the parking lots.

Maybe they caught him banging a dealer on her lunch break in the parking lot once.

But the bottom line is, if you don’t do anything wrong you have nothing to fear.

Ain't no bottom line in police work.
Did you see that poker player in the video above freak out about the police cruisin' around?

I'll second that, it's the safest option not to get into an accident... Or you can get rich and buy a Tesla so it can drive you anywhere and you can play poker in the meantime. But I think the best way is to sit down in a bar, have a beer or something stronger and plunge into the world of poker.
