People waste their time walking the strip to be seen, or they're too cheap or too broke to move in a pay-for manner. I'm no fan of walking it and I have no desire to join the mostly foreigners who do that sort of thing. If they've got backpacks they're from W. Europe, guns they're from E. Europe, and if they walk with their eyes glued to a tablet or an ipad, they're from Asia. You can always tell the gringos. They have a beer in hand and an ugly girl in tow.

I dont think anybody is walking the strip to be seen. Sometimes walking the strip can be faster then cabbing from casino to casino. Strip traffic is absurd.
I see all kinds walking the strip. I personally love walking the strip, great exercise. I actually walked from MGM to Hilton Grand Vacations by Circus Circus once. Sometimes I'll take a pedemeter with me to Vegas to see how much walking I've exactly done, the number of steps allways amazes me. Only place I've ever done as much walking as vegas is the Bonnaroo music festival.

I assume your talking about smoking a cigarette, and not what I think you mean.... .

Yes, that is my favorite euphemism for smoking a cigarette...picked it up in Europe...I think it was a bartender somewhere in the UK who said "I'm going to go out into the alley and blow a fag." I knew what he meant, but yeah.

I guess it could be construed as offensive. I find it amusing.

My wife and I routinely walk the strip, from Mandalay Bay to the Wynn. We have even done the walk to Rio. My wife and I take the overpass, while my daughter and I did the underpass behind Caesars route. That route I would not do at night.
We do it primarily for the exercise, but if you are only going a block or so, it is way faster than trying to cab it.
When it is really hot out, we will walk through the casinos, thru the Forum shops, etc. You can get a long way down the strip and only step outside once in a while.

That would be a cool map! Someone needs to map a route on each side of the strip that is done by staying inside as much as possible.

Exercise by walking the strip? With all the exhaust fumes, irritating porn slappers, and the close proximity to breathing in a bevy of germs from who knows where with all the walkers....well, is that just an excuse for not wanting to or being able to pay for a limo or a cab? I say this because a place like vpfree, for instance, is constantly inundated with posters who's chief interest lies in how to save 50c somehow.

Well, I'm never going to be mistaken for the Gettys, but I'm not going to avoid paying a cab fare, and a nice tip, when it is called for. The money is not the issue by any means. We have never been bothered by the fumes, the porn slappers are easily avoided, and you need to breathe in some of those germs so your body can build the antibodies to ward off the bigger infections. However, on that note, I do avoid touching the escalator handrails or stair rails. They are pretty gross.

We were there one June for the 109* days, and I will admit, we did not spend much time outside on that trip. Going from Paris to Caesars was HOT. Even staying in the misters did not really cool you down enough. But that is the only time we have cut down on walks. We were there this past July and did the Mandalay Bay to Paris walk and the Paris to Wynn walk on separate days. Best way to experience the strip, and all of the characters on the strip.
Some of the strip walkways are a PITA. The little mall area near Flamingo is the biggest pain. And the people who gawk, weave, stop, and generally block the flow are irritating as hell, but I have bigger things to fret about than that. And the experience of being on the Blvd on New Years Eve put a whole new perspective on what a crowded sidewalk is! Those who have experienced it know what I am laughing about.

It's not so bad. I love walking the strip. Granted I'm usually alone, so I don't have to worry about losing friends/mates in the crowd, and can dart in and out and between the slow-movers with impunity.

If you want to hit a bunch of casinos in a row in a short time (e.g. if you are a card counter with a lousy act :) ), I still think walking is faster than driving. Cabbing is probably the fastest, but gets really expensive. Enjoy the stroll, blow a fag, marvel at the ridiculous costumes of people offering pictures for tips.

I hate when people are blowing fags right in my face at the blackjack table. What you do in the comfort of your own home is none of my business. blackjack is for BJs and great penetration, not fag blowing. It's just disgusting and smelly and gets all in my clothes usually.

I enjoy walking the strip at night more than during the day.

Not as hot, people are livelier, usually they're better dressed.

And oh my, the quality of the young women I see out on the strip on a weekend: a lot better than what I see in Portland.
