Odd, but Horseshoe Southern Indiana. I'm about 3.5 hours away from there, there are closer ones (especially now with Cleveland), but HSI has the best games and service for my money. Over time, my "home casinos" have been Par-a-dice, Harrah's East Chicago, Harrah's NKC, and Horseshoe Council Bluffs.
No casino, I don't gamble any more.
Good luck to you.
I prefer Mohegan Sun over Foxwoods, although it's often easier to get cheaper rooms at Foxwoods. I kinda prefer AC over CT. AC has the advantage of easy access to multiple casinos, as well as multiple hotels. Also, I often take Academy Bus from the Cheesequake rest stop on the Garden State Parkway to AC. The advantage there is that unlike a typical casino bus, they give you a Schedule of when return trips occur, and you can come back anytime in 4 days.
I also occasionally make it out to Sands, Bethlehem PA. It's about an hour closer. Mount Airy is just as far, but that place sucks.
That said, I have a hard time picking a favorite.
Put a gun to my head and I'll say my favorite is Mohegan Sun. But I don't get there often enough for someplace I'd call "favorite"....
Quote: Gabes22I live in the NW Chicago suburbs. My home casino is Grand Victoria, although I only go there a couple times per year. I will gamble more on my annual trip to Vegas than I gamble a year locally. I also sometimes play the ponies at Arlington Park which is only a 10 minute drive from my place.
If my home casino were Grand Vic, I would probably not play there much either. The only casino on the Illinois side that is decent, IMO, is Harrah's Joliet and that's not great. I've heard good things about the Rivers, so I'm excited to check it out this weekend. On the Indiana side, I always loved Harrah's East Chicago and we're staying at Ameristar (which is the old Harrah's) and Horseshoe is now good, though it used to be one of the worst.

I assume you'll find members in all states and several countries ;)
I live in Mexico City

Downtown Las Vegas. That's the closest, easiest to reach place with a decent casino to where I live.
Las Vegas Club is my home casino even though it's 4+ hours away.
Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon (on the Oregon coast) is my usual haunt.
Home casinos: Stations properties, Cannery properties, downtown, strip, it's playland....
I really like to play in the Border of Paraguay and Argentina.
When I used to live in Harrisburg, PA I used to enjoy gambling at the Hollywood casino at Penn National.

well then am I an apple? or and orange? ;)
My home casino is Wheeling Island Racetrack and Casino, but I'm probably going to start going to The Meadows in PA.

That's misleading.
The number of views is NOT the number of unique members that have viewed the thread, but the number of times ANY member has viewed it, and it counts EACH TIME they view it.
A few years ago, I would have said Harrahs Cherokee in North Carolina (about 2.5 hours from home). I had alot of fun there but have not been there in about 2 years as I will not drive anywhere just for slots anymore. I would have to say Beau Rivage in Biloxi (6.5 hours) to stay at, but The Palace (smokefree) will be seeing more and more of my business in the future.

I don't know how to do a double quote. Please view entry I made at 2:55 pm. I intially did not mention views the other member did. "I said 183 members have logged in to the wov site but only 32 voted. The other gentleman mentioned the views for this particular thread which was 270 at that time. I am well aware that the views add up each time a member looks at it.
Quote: Gabes22Joliet is a good hour away from me. The Chicago area is absolutely huge geographically. I don't know if most people not from here realize how large it really is.
I remember talking to a Vegas resident one time, and they were complaining about having to go 9 miles to get all the way across town to do something. I just laughed and said "To get across town in CHicago, you have to go about 40-60 miles"
As for my "home" casino, it has to be the Ameristar in Indiana, even though it's like 50 miles from me. The two Joliet casinos are closer, but damned if I'm giving those ripoff artists at Hollywood any of my money, and Harrah's just doesn't interest me.
I work for the Senecas and I don't have my Canadian license, so The M is the only place I've gambled and only because it was on the company dime. I'll be hitting Presque Isle in July, so maybe Erie will be my new home (though I doubt it).
Can you guess?
The only casino around.....Potawatomi.

I always considered Harrah's North Kansas City my home casino when I lived in Kansas City, Missouri, even though Ameristar was slightly closer.
There was always a great cheap Limit Poker game going on at virtually anytime with plenty of players who were never taught that folding is an option available to them. I would say that it was expected to walk out of there with at least $50-$75 in a four-hour session (often more) just with conservative play alone.
I got a job back home where I am still living (I don't mean living at home, as in with my parents...I'm married with kids, I just mean I am from the area in which I currently reside), but I had a week layoff, free hotel room (at the hotel I managed in KC) and some extra cash, so I decided to give being a professional poker player a five-day trial run.
I'm not exactly sure what happened, but that average of $50 per four hours very quickly turned into an average of $125 per twelve hours, or essentially, $41.66 per four hours and $10.42/hour. I kind of weighed the pros/cons and decided, being single at the time, I could very easily live on an average take of $125/day, especially if I were to play six days a week as opposed to five. I also kind of considered the fact that Friday was my best day, and Saturday presumably would have been a good day, but that was the day I had to start driving back. For example, I'd made about $200 in twelve hours on Friday which completely offset Wednesday (my worst day) where I only made slightly under $50 in twelve hours.
The problem was that I had gained EIGHT POUNDS in five days from eating like crap and basically sitting on my tuchus all day long. I was also pretty darn tired constantly, if you want to know the truth. I got sick, as well, it was just a cold, but I almost never get sick.
I don't know how guys do it professionally, but my hat goes off to them. I burnt myself out on it so badly that I don't even care to play poker anymore, but I'll still go and play some poker if my bankroll needs a boost. I'll also play tournaments, but those are No Limit which I would never attempt to play on any kind of professional level. I don't think I would have the discipline to sustain serious hits to my bankroll in a short period of time and stick with it.
Limit is easy enough money to the extent that if you have $2,000 in the bank and you play $3/$6 Limit with $1/$2 blinds, and grind it out with little more than a willingness to fold, you should be able to make some money...in my limited experience. It's not easy on the body at all, though. My ultimate conclusion is that it is not worth it.
I'm sorry to hear that :(Quote: RogerKintLas Vegas Club is my home casino

Quote: cestanlNorthwest Arkansas here....... I make my rounds thru the Tribal casinos of northeast Oklahoma. Downstream, Bordertown, Grand Lake casino for the most part. I tend to avoid Cherokee casino in Siloam due to the 50c ante per hand.
I spent some time in Joplin, MO last year after the tornadoes and made the 10 minute drive to downstream casino. Poker room was nice and had the most comfortable chairs I've ever seen in a poker room. Definitely a very nice unexpected surprise. I thought the .50 cent ante on blackjack was ridiculous though. The ante is waived with a players card though.
I played blackjack twice for about 10 minutes each. I had to stop playing because 3 separate people split 20's. I was so pissed

lol Very funny, jerk ;) I used to play a lot of hold 'em around here but the grind got old. Besides, Vegas has spoiled me and the Wizard's sites have made me an EV chaser. My girlfriend sometimes gets rooms at Morongo but I'm at LVC/Plaza almost every month.
