BBB, your post is very appropriate to this thread, though I think it should be edited just a bit and a title block added. You see, we have a chip category called "Chinese New Year Commemorative Chips", and this one definitely deserves to be our chip of the day for today! I think (haven't checked) that this may be our first such chip not posted by the Wizard himself.

Thanks, Doc. I'm honored to have one to add. I'm on the run but will edit soon for headers and deleting extraneous chatter. Chips are still for sale. I will be editing the "ad" part out.

When you get the title block added, I will add this post/chip to the index.

Question: Did you just verify that the index is consistent with itself? I keep an active spreadsheet that shows the number of chips posted in each category and the total, so I don't think I'm likely to get that incorrect unless I miss seeing a chip post. The bigger problem is whether someone posted a chip-of-the-day somewhere in these 646 pages and I missed it. If you come across one of those, please let me know.

You won't tell me where you are traveling to? I had in mind to send you a P.M. to ask whether our outside-of-Las-Vegas wanderings might cross during that period. Guess I can just post my plans (taking up space in this thread) and you can decide whether we have opportunities to meet anywhere.

Monday 4/17: Fly to Las Vegas, arriving LAS at 7:44 PM. Pick up rental car and spend the night at the Rio.

Tuesday 4/18: Drive to Lake Tahoe. Stop off at Stagecoach (Beatty) for token-replacement chip, Paiute Palace (Biship, CA) for new chip, and Topaz Lodge (Gardnerville) for token-replacement chip. Stay at Harvey's Lake Tahoe for two nights, picking up a chip at the Hard Rock Lake Tahoe while I am in the area.

Thursday 4/20: Drive a long loop for sightseeing and collecting. Begin with a clockwise 3/4 loop of the lake, stopping at Grand Lodge (Incline Village) for a new chip. Then continue to Max (Carson City) for a new chip, Diamond's (Reno) for token-replacement chip, Nugget (Sparks) for a new chip, Stockman's (Fallon) for token-replacement chip, followed by Pioneer Crossing (Yerington), El Capitan (Hawthorne), and Mizpah Club (Tonopah) for new chips. Spend the night at the Mizpah Hotel next to the club. (That is the only hotel on the trip that is not comped, even though I will have to pay some resort fees at Rio and Harvey's.)

Friday 4/21: Drive on down to Las Vegas, where I am booked at the Orleans for Friday and Saturday nights surrounding the Spring Fling Main Event. As I arrive in the Las Vegas area, rather than going directly to the Orleans, I (tentatively) plan to loop the city, stopping at Texas Station for a new chip that says "Station" instead of "Gambling Hall", then continue to Silver Nugget, Poker Palace, Longhorn, and Skyline for token-replacement chips. I certainly expect to hit all of those spots while I am in town, but it might turn out that I don't really make that loop before going to the hotel.

Sometime while I am in town I will get to the Lucky Dragon to pick up a new chip. Perhaps there are several of us who want to do that and we could go together. Anyone interested in that? I think Lucky Dragon and Grand Lodge are the only casinos on my list for this trip that haven't been covered in the thread already, and it doesn't matter much who posts the Lucky Dragon chip.

Sunday 4/23: Move to Main Street Station. It's annoying to hotel hop, but I'm a cheapskate, and I try to take advantage of the comped rooms that are offered. MSS didn't offer me Fri/Sat nights; those were offered by Gold Coast, but they claimed to be sold out on Saturday night, and I got that offer transferred to Orleans.

Tuesday 4/25: Turn in rental car and fly home. Scheduled departure at 2:05 PM.

Am I likely to encounter you anywhere other than at the Spring Fling events?

When I check the index I go through thread and make sure that all entries were added to the index and added to the overall number. I basically make sure that no chip of the days go by not indexed.

As far as us meeting up other than Spring Fling that won't be possible since I will be in California when you are doing the Northern Nevada chips. I am doing Northern Nevada a week before you. As far as the new state I plan on keeping that as a surprise that I don't think you will figure out.

As far as Lucky Dragon, I had mentioned in the Spring Fling thread that we should head over there as a group after the Friday night dinner as that dinner only had the chippers last year.

Well, then, I definitely appreciate your efforts. I am way too lazy to go through all 640+ pages looking for chips that hid from me before. Probably the one that went unnoticed the longest was the one that aluisio slipped in on page 52, right in the middle of my original postings of Nevada chips in April 2012. That chip, from the Enjoy Casino in Chile (we later discussed some uncertainty about the proper name of the place), went un-indexed until you pointed out the oversight to me some three and a half years later.

I went ahead and indexed the commemorative chip post from BBB, in anticipation of her making the edits.

Well I did the majority of it last year when I listed the errors, I think there were seven. At this point I check it every 30 pages or so.

Au contraire mon ami! Remember who posted the CNY commemorative from the, now under new ownership and renamed Normandie?

Also, while dreaming of west to east luxury cruising, did I miss the annual "sometime around March 15" thread stat recap?...

Doc,

I looked at your list and did not see the Hard Rock Hotel in Punta Cana, DR. I obtained a chip from there as well as stayed there. I can give a trip report and an overview. Please let me know if it has already been done as I might have missed it while using my phone.

My apologies, Ayecarumba. At least I acknowledged that I hadn't checked and was going from memory as to who posted what chips. As for the annual recap, I guess I'm just falling down on the job. Or was asleep while standing. I didn't even think about it this year. Fortunately, PokerGrinder gave us a very nice summary just 10 chips ago when he posted chip #1,000 for the thread, so we're not too far out of date.

Trying to cover up my error, I will now say that as of 3/16/17, the fifth anniversary of the beginning of this thread, we were on pages 645 and 646 of discussion with 6,476 posts (as of the end of page 645), had covered 1,009 official Casino Chips of the Day, and the thread had more than 1.1 million views. Plus gobs of entertainment for the OP.

Is that a sufficient summary?

No, beerseason, we have not covered that Hard Rock at all. In fact, there are only three casinos from the Dominican Republic that have been covered in the thread, all by PokerGrinder (and none at all from the Haitian side of the island, although CasinoCity.com says that the Royal Hatian Hotel and Casino in Port-au-Prince has table games.)

Please do share with us your Hard Rock chip and tales about the casino. We (and particularly PokerGrinder) have been expecting Konbu to show up with a supply of chips to post for us, but in his absence, please take this opportunity!

Doc you usually list how many chips were posted in the past year along with all the previous years totals. I don't think we did but did we hit 100 chips this last year? I know we talked about how it would be tough.
