Reading DJ's excellent post brought back memories of AC in the 80's. Anybody else care to share their experiences about AC and lousy service? I will start. The wife and I used to ride the bus from Baltimore with another couple, $15 each round trip. We used the bus to Playboy's and would get $20 in quarters and a prime rib buffet, plus half price in the Deli. Some of the bunnies dealing were not only eye candy but actually had personalities. And several were definitely not sissies. They had either been barmaids in a place where the owner took book or dealt in back room games. I tip too much and was amazed sometimes they would lose the ability to count or multiply when paying my hands just before a scheduled break or move to another table. ( Face & Dan, It's Christmas time. No lecture,Please ) I could have pointed out their errors but the payoffs were always delivered with a smile and occasionally a wink LOL

Really hated leaving , but we had a rule. First rude service and we'd take a taxi to Harrahs at the Marina or Trumps. A blackjack dealer waving smoke back in your face or asking the courtesy desk when the late bus to Baltimore left and being told " How would I know, call the bus company ! " But the pits was when we had made a second trip in 2 weeks and were comped $30 each. After the Prime Rib we headed to the casino floor to cash our vouchers. They would rotate the cage that paid the bus comps. My wife asked if she could get Dollar Tokens instead of quarters. She was told " You bus people get quarters ! If you want dollars you can take them to another cage and see if they will trade." We left the casino with $120 in quarters and took a cab to Harrah's.

Imagine that. Gee lady, take these quarters that you can spend anywhere instead of dollar slugs for our slots ! And after reading DJ's excellent post, I see things have not changed much,

Do the math. You were being paid $5 to take a bus ride where you were given a nice meal for free.

It didn't take long for an underground industry to be formed of people who would get paid to ride the bus every day - and didn't even gamble!

Not to create excuses, but the cashier might not have even realized you were asking for slot tokens. She might have thought you wanted to trade up, like all the other "bus people".
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

I know later on there were abuses by college kids, but the buses I rode on were almost always full of gamblers, And yes I did appreciate the meal and the quarters. But they were not the only casino running buses and at the time the casino's were making about $70 per passenger on average. Article I read was after comps and all were figured in. I used to marvel about at seeing buses pull up minute by minute and know each represented $7,000 each for the casino profits.

But rude behavior is just that: RUDE I always tried to give Playboy a fair shot at my money. If you had heard her surly tone and the emphasis on " You bus people" you would understand why we left.

My Dad drove a cab so I know how important tips are to some people's livelihood. As said before, I tip too much. I even tip the cage odd dollars when cashing out. And that was years before my wife worked in a cage. Rudeness can be contagious. On another trip with an elder neighbor, I witnessed the worst. She tripped and fell just a few feet after leaving the escalator. 6 people stepped over her, Before I could get to her aid an employee of GN helped her to her feet and insisted on walking her to a first aid station to ensure she was OK. Needless to say, GN always got some of my action on return trips.

I've been to AC several times now and have almost always gotten good service from everyone in the casinos. Of course, there are exceptions--Trump Plaza easily has the surliest dealers on the Boardwalk, and there was one guy at the Showboat who actually got angry when I played optimal UTH strategy. But there's always going to be some bad apples. I also have low expectations, and generally don't expect to be pampered or waited on hand & foot (not saying anyone here does). I agree that AC needs to make some big changes in order to compete with PA, DE, etc., but let's be fair.

Hey, that happened to me a couple months ago. I tried to explain it, that I only had to beat HIM, not everyone else at the table.

Middle-aged Indian guy, by chance? Yeah, I colored up and left pretty quickly. It's very rare that I don't tip dealers, they basically have to be outright rude or abusive towards me--this, unfortunately, was one of those times.

Naw, it was a Caribbean fella, from Martinique I think. He was getting all bent up when I was betting 4x with Q/9, A/4, stuff like that. I had a winning session, I didn't knock 'em dead but I won. I won some of those, lost some, and I lost once with K/K. Since I was losing everywhere else I stayed at UTH.

I just finished a UTH session at Gold Coast where a woman was letting me take half her action on all her 4x raises. Love these situations. Thank dead God for the Wizard's and Stephen's strategies!
