Hi All
If you are an experineced gambler you should discard this message because you will be aware of all the things I am going to say. If you are inexperienced or perhaps younger maybe some of these things will save you some money. I don't mean to pontificate here and I am not trying to be arrogant. Just want to save some folks some money based on my many years(age 65) of gambling.

Strong emotions will lead to defeat. If you cannot control your emotions find something else to do with your money. Here are some things that effect emotions.

Drinking---don't do it while you gamble. People who drink lose perspective and make lousy gambling decisiions. Many become cocky and make the worst bets I have ever seen.

Lack of nicotine. If you are used to a nicotine in your system and can't smoke at your casino use something that doesn't require smoke to keep the noctine level at your normal level. Believe me I am not advocating smoking. But for those who do smoke and when nicotine levels drop they seem to again make rash gambling decisions.

Women(and to be fair men if that's your thing or you are female)If you are highly sexed man and a glamourous woman is sitting next to you I guarantee you will try to impress her with some of of your gambling skills. Some of the most rediculous bets I have ever seen have been made to impress a good looking woman. Go to another table where there are no distractions.

Anger. If you get pissed off when you lose especially to someone who has bluffed you (at poker for instance) your anger level will rise a lot. You will forget about the game and perhaps even trade barbs with someone. All this does is take your mind off the game. If someone is pissing you off by the way they play---go to another table or casino. On Bodog I have seen two or three people go at each other for sometimes over an hour. They can't even stop to pass or fold and sometimes delay the game for others as well as make arrogant bets when the person who pisses them off is up against them.

Doubling up to make up for a loss. Don't do it. It should only be done when you have a huge amount of back up cash to outlive a losing streak. It's so easy for 10 to become 20 to become 40 to become 80 to become 160. Voila--You have just lost 310 and are out of money! On the other hand if you have 10,000 with you---you can outlive the losses...my experience tells me that most chicken out even then when its time to invest 1000 as a next bet even if they have anonther 9000 in their stache.

Play games that have reasonable odds unless you are playing just for the fun of it or for a few dollars to just take a shot. Those names you see on the list of jackpot winners don't tell the story of the thousands who lost or will lose like you. Same story with the bells going off and screaming when someone takes down a few bucks.

Their is no such thing as a hot machine---so just forget it! There is also no such thing as this maching is due--forget that also.

Grandpa wishes you all the best of luck!

best of luck to you, sir, I assume you are a bit younger than that guy nearly 100 yrs old playing at the World Series of Poker.
the next time Dame Fortune toys with your heart, your soul and your wallet, raise your glass and praise her thus: “Thanks for nothing, you cold-hearted, evil, damnable, nefarious, low-life, malicious monster from Hell!”   She is, after all, stone deaf. ... Arnold Snyder
