I'm running down a rabbit hole of tracking devices hidden in cars that were just sold off the lot. They are connected to the port the diagnosticians use with their scanners, but they use LTE radio to transmit via cell towers. One guy found the car he bought had a tracker and he found the data that showed where the previous owner of the vehicle had travelled. These trackers have kill switches that the car dealers can use if you don't pay your bills on time and it can get mighty inconvenient. This video shows the circuit that allows that. He says that Navigation or GPS or phones are tracking devices too, but this is something hooked up to the ignition switch and it's being fed to the Dealer. One time I got home with my new car and the Dealer called just as soon as I parked the car in my lot. I thought that could be either coincidence or he's got a tracker, or we're on a psychic network. He did turn on the OnStar on my trade-in car and during the week I still had it, it must have downloaded information that the air bags were malfunctioning. I drove for 10 months missing that message and on the day I'm driving the car back to the Dealer, that message popped up. Unbelievable.
