I've been researching Bernard Grzimek, one of the leaders of the 1950s Conservation Movement. I found a web group that is very knowledgeable about him and has been quite helpful.
I found what I thought was an attempt at poetry in the front of one of his books, but no one knew anything about it. My copy of the book is an out-of-print first English edition, and the poem isn't included in later copies I've seen.
After multiple posts over a week or so, someone asked if I'd copy the poem. I'll copy it for you.

He and I and the elephants
No room for wild animals
Serengeti shall not die
Rhinos belong to everybody
Twenty animals, one man
Such agreeable friends
Four-legged Australians.

Three respondents agreed it was not good poetry, but the fourth response said it wasn't a poem. It was a list of his previous books.
The older I get, the better I recall things that never happened

Yes, they are correct, books.
Previously I had not heard of Bernard Grzimek.
Wikipedia says that his Serengeti Must Not Die was made into an Oscar winning documentary.
