2025 Numerology

2025 is as good as here. It measures a few interesting things. The 2000s are 25% over (because we start counting that at 0) and it is 80 years since WWII, which is the start of our modern era. The halfway point since WWII is now 1985, and the 25 years elapsed since the start of 2000 is the same elapsed since 1975-2000.

This means the introduction of the modern PC and VCR has more relevance time-wise to WWII than to today. Ditto the first Space Shuttle launch, the 1984 Reagan landslide re-election, the birth of Hulkamania, and barely the introduction of the Ford Taurus (introduced 12/26/85).

Think if there was more change 1975-2000 than 2000-2025. In 1975 if you had cable it was simply for better reception maybe you had HBO, often illegally. You had 3-7 channels in most cases. By 2000 everyone had cable (or satellite) but with 80 channels you watched maybe 4-7. In 2025 people are yanking cable and the concept of a "channel" is rather fuzzy when it comes to streaming.

The Cold War will soon be over for longer than it lasted.

Think and discuss. One of my thoughts is how we classify US presidents historically, with the death of Carter. We tend to call JFK the "first modern POTUS" mostly because of how he used TV first. IMHO we should now call Clinton the first modern POTUS based on being the first of the post-Cold War.

ABC did that in 2000, Peter Jennings on air 24 hours straight. I was home thru most of it, life was going very bad at that time. I had to drag into the office to fill out a Y2K checklist, saying I did things like flush a toilet and turn on all the lights. Sent it by fax!

Anyone remember the Y2K plans requested by customers they might have had? I got a couple from other divisions of my own company....
