IF this project breaths new life and is really finished (something we have all heard way too many times), along with Resorts World opening scheduled for May, the convention center expansion, which I am not sure when will be complete, but is well under way, things REALLY will begin to start to look different on the North End of the strip,
There was news last week or so of a high end, resort (no casino) being built on convention center drive on the old Clarion (Debbie Reynolds hotel) lot. Not sure how much a draw that would be, being a non-casino property.
Also somewhat quietly, the Convention Center Authority, bought the now bankrupt Monorail which has been shut down since the pandemic started in March. I don't know exactly what their plans are for that but the Monorail has always been under-utilized.
I know we have heard it all before but things might actually be brewing on the North End, if and when Vegas returns to normal.
I fairly certain I have only use that monorail once. I forget its even there, unless I'm on Paradise.Quote: kewljI am going to bump this thread because it has a new title at my request. I think I tried to be a little too cutsie with the original title "big Blue monstrosity" and people may not have known what it was about from the title.

I used to use it when Westgate (then LVH) was in my regular playing rotation. Would time that day when we were playing the lower strip area, MGM etc, and ride the monorail to Westgate because my Partner liked the monorail. He said it reminded him of the subway back in Philly, although....NO. lol By the way, locals have always been able to ride the monorail for $1 a ride. My guess is that will be gone. Westgate used to also have a local price for their buffet back then that was $4 for lunch, ($19 for non locals). Made for a nice little side trip.
The north end of the Strip is only the Sahara, circus circus, stratosphere, and the casino attached to the Convention Center (former Vegas Hilton)? am i missing any?
i am surprised Sahara didnt declare bankruptcy because of the pandemic.
i remember 10+ years ago the Fountain Blue, Stardust/Echelon/Resorts World Vegas, and Frontier projects.
Had to wiki for Frontier to see what's going on there.
So Wynn was interested in it in 2017 but no further updates.
i can see Wynn building a casino in that location and having an underground people mover to/from his current casino across the street
