I've noticed there are a lot of aspiring game designers on this site, so I wanted to share a documentary that I thought could help. Too many of these new game designers are just starting to make games for the 1st time & think it's a good idea to start with casino games as your first game creation. I can't disagree enough with that strategy for success. There is zero room for error within the casino gaming industry! If a board game gets shipped with bad math analysis you can always revise the rules later & upload them online for your customers. If a casino game gets into a casino operator with bad math analysis, not only are you going to lose the sale to the casino operator but odds are you are going to lose that B2B customer for life! Casino games need to have perfect game mechanics with the correct payout values for the casino to not lose money. If your game is faulty either the casino loses money because it's house edge is too much that nobody will play or too little that they lose money on the cost of operating expenses (or it's so bad that there is a player edge in which the casino will lose the most money).

I highly encourage all aspirin game designers to 1st gain some experience in the board game industry. Not only is it a much more forgiving & easier market to enter but board games will literally give you all the necessary tools to invent casino games. Trust me, analysis of board games is often compatible with casino game analysis with many board games going far beyond the complexities of any casino game. The board game industry is how I acquired my game design skills & it can be your path to designing successful games (regardless of the type of game). The best game designers create board games, the board game industry generates 7.2 billion every year (this is a 2017 figure with an expected 4.8 billion growth over 6 years!!!) which is 16.59% of what the video game industry made in 2018! But the difference is many of these board game designers did it all themselves with no team of developers or outside help, & the best part is that there are fewer board game designers than video game designer which should give you an idea as to how difficult it is to make a board game that somebody wants to spend money on.

Have a little faith in what I'm saying & just work hard at making your 1st board game and let some board gamers test it. You will learn so much from the experience you would think you're conducting a college experiment. Any real gamer who plays board games that are currently being made will probably rip your game a new one by giving you a list of all your bad game design choices & an explanation of why they are bad. Board games are 1 of the few types of games where the players have extensive knowledge of game mechanics & rules. If you wanted to design a slot machine, your average slot machine player knows nothing about the game mechanics of the machines, let alone the phycological aspects or any math analysis. Last food for thought, the best game designers are gamers who play lots of board games ;)

If you made it this far you really do care about a career in game design. Here is the LINK CLICK RIGHT HERE to watch the movie GameMasters which was just produced this year! I have the movie uploaded to my YouTube channel but it's unlisted so that YouTube's copyrights won't interfere. I'm only doing this because I think this knowledge could help someone's career which might have failed if they attempted to start designing casino games.

Did I miss something?

WHAT are we supposed to be watching?

Also, those are rather redundant poll choices...
I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

Nice to see you again! So I have the link as the word "link" in the last paragraph of the original comment. You should be able to see the word link in blue color and if you click on it, you get to watch the movie ;)

As for the redundant poll choices, there are still quite a few nasty people on here that like to be mean to me & giving any options for people to choose negative choices can lead to bad things ;) Think of the choices as:

If you like that I'm trying to help aspiring game designers then choose the "Thank You" option.

If you find the material helpful in the slightest way then choose the "Helpful" option.

If you have been struggling to find information on how to be a game designer & liked my short essay then choose the "I Needed This" option.

& you know what to pick if you have seen the movie ;)

Gambling is a math contest where the score is tracked in dollars. Try not to get a negative score.

So glad to be of any help to others of my kind. I like to keep up to date on the current games being developed & I just did a playtest of Exploding Kittens with my mom not even a month ago! Fun game :)
