My friends and family are part of the majority that find the masks silly.

As to "another lockdown" we had better hope not. Enough damage already done. We are seeing some good, old fashioned treatments working and that the deaths are concentrated among the older members of society. Need to use that in our responses.

Life is risk. I honestly cannot believe people who think we need to wear masks lest we all die would put money at risk in a casino.

I'm thinking you may not understand the meaning of the word majority.

I know masks will stop the spittle from flying out of some people's mouths.

Even an inadequate barrier should disrupt the direct flow forward.

Take the Cheetos challenge.

Crush up a dozen Cheetos in a bowl. Rub your fingers in the bowl and go watch tv for an hour. Then look in the mirror.

Have to keep it open. Staying locked down is not practical. Unseen damage is mounting.

In the case of Lassen county I agree with you. 4 cases over 30k people. You still actually have a chance to contact trace.

I'm visiting my mother for the first time in almost 3 months this weekend. Her zip code only has 50 total cases for 53k people. So pretty safe, but I'll still have a mask on in public, doubt i will eat in at a restaurant, and won't go the casino when it reopens on Monday in Missouri, even though I'd really like to. June 1st was the date I predicted Midwest casinos to open back when they closed.

Do you think it's just going to magically go away somehow?
According to reports we are nowhere near herd immunity. I understand people are willing, ready and eager to get back out there, and I don't blame them. I just don't think we're actually ready the deal with a second wave. We are just winging it and hoping at this at this point. Reasonable best case predictions don't seem to be all that encouraging worst-case scenarios seem a little far-fetched. Assuming it's somewhere in the middle then I think we're f*****.

Go away? Maybe, maybe not. History is mixed. In the end we just have to deal with it. The two things we have seen in this wave are that cases are extremely concentrated in NY/NJ and a few dense areas. Nursing homes are extremely susceptible and locking them down makes some sense. One county here has a high "red" status surrounded by counties not near its level. It is no metro to anyone but some remote place in the southwest. The reason? A big nursing home skewing the case numbers. A classic case in how executives need to read more than the raw numbers.

That aside, we cannot lock down again. Too much damage. Have to deal with it like a nation that cannot just print money. Tell people who are sick to stay home. Send people like me who will drag themselves to work no matter what to go home if needed. Tell people to make sure they take in enough zinc. Get enough rest. Otherwise life has to go on. Another thing we learned was the models were far enough off to be considered "guestimates."

Most of all, stop scaring ourselves to death.

No way. I'd look like Trump.

Edit.... I hope above does not count as a political comment; it wasn't meant as such.

Casinos have started to open the last few days in the Midwest. Major chains have numerous properties opening on June 1st to the 3rd, as well again in the Midwest.

The major Casino chain I work for is opening numerous properties as I type this. I just looked on the internet and seen on some other forums pictures posted from the casino floor.

Just a few changes and everyone's moving forward. Kind of what I thought would happen is happening.

If you're sick it's too late, haven't we all learned that by now? That's one of the biggest problems with this particular virus... people who aren't sick yet can still spread it. Take zinc and get rest is your answer, come on man, you can't be serious with that.

The problem with people making their own decision who are willing to risk their own lives is the fact that it doesn't just affect them and their family, it affects all the other patients and Healthcare facilities, essential workers, nurses, doctors, and healthcare workers that have to take care of those people when they're sick.

"In the end we just have to deal with it." that might be the way to go, and just hope for the best. If things get serious, I just can't see that happening. Unfortunately for many, I do believe there will end up being more lockdowns.
