Quote: heatmapAnd realize you could just spend the day looking on the floor for other chips because people do it more often than you think? So many dropped chips! Of course they aren’t exactly visible as anyone can see something on the floor but I’m talking about the edge of any table game where people sit and it rolls under the table but sometimes it’s still possible to see the chip if the table has enough space to look under.
I recommend duck walking thru the table games area. Take a bottled water and stay hydrated for optimal alertness.
Might depend on the state/casino, but that's what I've heard for years.
. Can’t be as simple as that. If you drop a chip and I pick it up, it’s the casino’s and I can’t hand it back to you?Quote: TigerWuI heard that, by law, dropped chips (that don't belong to you) are technically property of the casino so if you pick them up you're stealing.

My sister was working in a casino and told me the same.
It's hard to imagine that you just come and take dropped chips and say "I'm in the game"
If it works, somebody just come and pushes you a little so you would drop them down and lost chips)

I’ve been told the same thing.
This thread is somewhat supposed to be for fun but thank you to everyone who pointed this out. I’ve been told at least at my casino that they can track anyone anywhere and find anything they dropped if they want.
Edit
And the only reason I brought this up was because I’ve gotten horizontal with the floor in order to retrieve chips only to come back up with more than i dropped most of the time. I’ll get other people’s chips if they drop them just to take a look under the table. Hell I’ll pick anything and everything up dice roulette balls chips penny slot cash out you name it’s like why would people just do this stuff if they don’t want the money

No, it's fine if it goes back to the original player. But if it's "abandoned," or no one can find out who it belongs to, it reverts back to the casino.
Quote: sodawaterI would advise everyone to not pick up dropped chips or slot vouchers on the floor. The risk is not worth it. People have been arrested for this nonsense.
I'm not saying that hasn't happened, but I find it hard to believe the average person should worry about being arrested for finding a $5 chip or $.75 slot voucher on the floor.
Now, if you find a couple of blacks or purples, shove them in your pocket and try to high-tail it out the front door, I can see where that would cause some problems.

I believe I've read stories about people being arrested in Colo. and Pa. for picking up vouchers/chips less than $5.
At least if it's a high-value chip the reward is somewhat worth the risk, depending on your personal situation.
My point is that the vast majority of money on the floor is less than $5 and not worth anyone's risk/reward profile. So I guess I completely disagree with you.
