One very important factor related to that possible use of this new forum feature: On the (somewhat risky) assumption that members still have their original images of these chips (or could shoot new ones), is there (or will there be) a way for a poster to edit a very old post and replace a now-obscured-photo link with a new "Insert my picture" image? That would be great, and if that is the case, I will send PMs to the people who suffered that photo loss and let them know which of their chip-of-the-day posts need to be revised.
Thanks in advance!

And note that the error message I got spelled "unsuccessful" with two Ls
Quote: ThatDonGuyIs there a size limit, either in pixels or MB? This is 800 x 600; it rejected a much larger one.

Yes, there is 5MB limit for images. Thanks for understanding :)

The picture that got rejected was about 2.3 MB. I was able to load one that's 1.5 MB.
Also, there's no easy way to add/change a photo to an existing post. What you can do is, you can create a new post, upload photos, cancel the new post, and manually insert an [IMG] tag to the one where you actually want to add/change the photo.
I bet that wasn't intentional!!!
Thanks for the info. I guess that makes two tiers of impediment for correcting each of the 118 missing images in the Casino-Chip-of-the-Day thread. Not only is it a multi-step process (as ThatDonGuy described) to get a replacement image inserted in an old post that's being edited, but also most folks nowadays don't have the ability to edit their old posts in the first place.Quote: ThatDonGuyAlso, there's no easy way to add/change a photo to an existing post. Anybody have suggestions as to how we could get that thread's lost-image posts fixed if we actually had the 118 images available to post?

If you can't edit the original posts, then how about creating a separate thread for the now-missing images and posting the new photos there?

I can edit my own old posts, but just in that one thread -- that permission allows me to manage the thread index that is located in the first three posts of the thread. If others can edit their old posts in that thread, I am not aware of it, and I cannot edit anyone else's posts anywhere -- I think that requires an Admin.
I was interested in getting replacement photos edited into the original posts so that the images appear right along with the discussion about the chip and the casino it came from. I feel that moving the images to another thread would diminish the value, unless perhaps we could add a note in the original post about where the image was now available. That sounds almost as difficult as adding the replacement image where I think it should go.
{Side comment: I didn't really mean to take this thread off its intended topic.}
I think it’s a date thing. I.E. All posts created prior to the rule about no edits are still editable. Additionally, I checked. I can edit my own posts, in ANY thread, as long as they’re old enough.Quote: DocI can edit my own old posts, but just in that one thread -- that permission allows me to manage the thread index that is located in the first three posts of the thread.
I don’t know what the cutoff date is.
FYI. All 3 of your index posts are dated 2/27/2010 but obviously weren’t created the same day, and are before the cutoff.
Test by trying to edit a post that’s a couple days old as well as one that’s at least 10 years old. And not in that thread.
Uhmmm? On my screen, it says that the first three posts in the Casino-Chip-of-the-Day thread are dated March 16, 2012, not February 27, 2010. Are we looking at the same thread? I think the original three posts were probably created the same day, but they have been modified (with some of the original stuff moved to later posts) in order to make room for the index.Quote: DJTeddyBearFYI. I did look at another thread with a very old post of mine (2010) and can verify that I can still edit it, so you are correct there.
Specifically about the CCotD thread, my "special permission" will allow me to edit a post from last December in that thread, should I choose to, though I cannot do that in other threads. That ability allows me to edit a post in the right place in the thread to draw attention to related chip posts that were made elsewhere or at a later date.
