"About 50,000 unionized Las Vegas casino workers will vote later this month on whether to go on strike and potentially paralyze the state’s largest industry.

"The contracts for Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 members expire June 1 at 34 area properties, including those operated by MGM Resorts International, Caesars Entertainment Corp. and Boyd Gaming."

Haven't we heard this tune before? I don't remember the details, but wasn't the last strike pretty much symbolic -- off-duty employees doing protest marches.

The chief executive officers of the four biggest operators saw their combined compensation increase 50 percent last year to $99 million.

These four guys should go out on strike till they get a living wage a private jet a few Bentleys in the garage

Mgm in particular is the ones ceo and executives who made it through the recission without going bankrupt. Pretty sure the deslers didn't make that happen. Plus i am sure a chunk of that was stock options which may be worthless when they cash them

Right there is the reality of the trickle down theory, and how well it enriches the working class.

More evidence of the need for nation wide union membership. If these dealers don't strike or at least threaten to strike, they will get a pittance at most of the windfall casinos received from the tax cut. If you see them on the street, remember to honk and wave to show support.

If Reagan hadn't killed unions, we wouldn't have these silly talks about health insurance. People and their employers could have negotiated a fair deal, without all this government overreach.

Even if true, that just means they did their job with a basic level of competence. Not sure how it follows that their employees' college funds and retirement savings should be sucked into their pockets so they can buy a 5th home.

It's sort of sad as Vegas is one of the few places where an average person can still have a nice lifestyle, but they are doing their best to destroy that. Idk why anybody would favor that. Personal anger i guess

Any AP should definitely want dealers, bartenders and so forth to have as much money as possible.

I was told NO DEALERS in Vegas are unionized. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’m pretty sure it’s true or at least very close to true.

Which is why you want them to make as much as possible.

Really, just in general, but especially if you rely on gambling, it is good for almost everyone if many people have well paying jobs. Then they can put money into your industry.

It's bad only if you are an elite and can't stand the thought of other people having even a little money and power.

There used to be some fairly good casino employee promotions around town, I see some from time to time, but nothing like they used to. They need to show some love for the employees who gamble it up.

I'm willing to give them some ideas (-;
