up till last year, Ive never played slots.
it's been vp, craps, or blackjack.
ie: Low HE games
then I went on a cruise and I was bored.
no one was playing live poker, the $15 3:2 bj table wasn't open, and no one was at the craps table. (I cant play alone in craps since I play Dark so I always pass the dice.)
And the vp suck. (97% return at .25 denom)
so what do I do? play a -10% (or worse) HE slot! WTF was i thinking?!?!
they had this new slot game I've never seen before.
It's called Lock-It Hearts.
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/slots/30213-why-cant-i-stop-playing-this-slot-game-where-i-won-a-w2-g-last-year/
I hit the Major jackpot for a little over $2k.
and now I cant stop myself from playing $20 whenever I pass it!
nor can I stop myself from playing $20 on Lightning Link machines when the Major maxes out at $1000.
https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gambling/slots/29898-why-do-casinos-cap-the-major-jackpot-at-1000/
I've probably lost $500 in 20s so far, lifetime (~6months).
Now $500 means very little to me at a casino when spread over 1/2 a year.
I bring $1000 every time I play live poker. (avg once a week.)
and I bring $5k whenever I do a Diamond in a Day. ($50k coin-in to reach Diamond status)
These kind of slot machines are my crack.
Good thing I never found illegal drugs appealing. (heck, I still don't find marijuana appealing now that it's legal in some places.)
I play till I lose the $20, or till I hit a bonus. (I always play minimum bet, $0.50/spin.)
if I hit a bonus, I wont play that machine for the rest of the day. (Stop at a high point.)
if I don't hit a bonus, I will (at minimum) pop in a $20 when I leave the casino.
"The Major jackpot on the machine has maxxed out at $1000. it's a great time to play."
I've become a ploppie...

Why can't you play craps by yourself when playing the don't? That's perfect. You get to decide the pace of the game and no one else is "annoyed" at you for how you bet. Just go ahead and roll the dice.

it's psychological.
I would hate it if I went on a monster roll without a 7.

I agree. It is pure misery.

Look at your handle for inspiration. I'm assuming that's "free odds" you're referring to. You must unploppify yourself. Don't let the cartoonish images of slot machines carry you away to couch potato hell. Come back to games of skill.

I agree... slots are fun for like $5-$20 bucks at a time, and then I don't need to play for months.

So youre throwing a Jackson at a machine every once in a while. So what? Its not like youre sitting there, feeding the beast Benjamin after Benjamin like most of the mindless automatons who play slots.
FWIW: I also occasionally play slots, $20 at a time...

My local Seminole joint has unknown slot settings and for a variety of other reasons I sort of lathe the place. Sure its very profitable and is growing by leaps and bounds but the events are usually poorly planned, the offers absurd, the disorganization astounding. It appears the poker is good and there is an informal poker breakfast break for the non-stop gamblers where they from time to time discuss gambling at real casinos. Yet I still hate the place.
So I'm hesitant to play slots and definitely hesitant to pay for drinks but still I do dabble in the slot machines. A slot machine is a better meeting place than a comfortable bar chair and often a cheaper seat too. Looking at spinning symbols is better for me than looking at the whole room spinning.
Yet, still I do limit the time and the money "invested" in slot machines.

Nice hand! Maybe got you close to a golden arm for the month or something.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.
