I'm off to Vegas in November for my annual sacrifice to the Gods of Chance (she's an atheist) and general living it relatively large.
I have some ideas already planned (including a Vegas craft beer crawl, some ice hockey and a go karting; plus topping up the gambling book collection at the Gambler's General Store), but is there anything an annual Vegas visitor should check out that's new in the last 12 months that is a bit below the radar. Which rules out City Centre, I know about it, and will be passing through.
Shows, offers, events, bars, etc all that stuff is of interest...
We'll be staying at the Orleans... good deal of my buddies points and that's where the hockey is played.

I was in Vegas over Thanksgiving a couple years ago, very depressing. It was a ghostown all week and Xmas decorations were already up, I didn't care for it at all.

I didn't get to do it while there in Sept., but the Boulder City Zip Lines look awesome!
I think I saw it was $149, but I'm not sure about that price at all.

I do know the SkyJump at Stratosphere is $99. For that price you get to step off the Strat tethered to a cable and drop 855' to the ground, which makes it the tallest tethered jump in the world. Best $99 I ever wasted in Vegas!!!

I will be watching the Bills/Lions game somewhere (is there a Lions fan bar anywhere in Vegas?)

Is there a Lions fan bar anywhere in the U.S.? Maybe Detroit, but I wouldn't count on it!
In case you missed my thread on Vegas craft beers, I strongly recommend a visit to the Freakin' Frog near the UNLV campus. Its a total dive, but the beer selection is outstanding.

I found one at random one year near the main post office not far from the airport. We stopped their at random for lunch to be surrounded by Lions flags and memorabilia. It had changed by the time I went back two years later.

Oh, we have indeed seen your thread and it has given us a bit of inspiration.

I'm thinking of checking out two of the Go-Kart tracks :

and

Anyone been to either? Looking for 'proper' karting where the driver skill is a factor and hitting the top speed isn't something that happens after about 2 seconds...

I didn't get much feedback on the previous, but one last question in case there's any knowledge...
I've got vouchers for money off at Rare120 (Hard Rock) and Aureole (Mandalay) through restaurant.com (this weeks code word is Orange...). Anyone got an opinion on either of these? We'll probably hit the Hard Rock at some point to see it in full flow... kinda enjoyed looking around last time I was there to look at the memorabilia.

If you can extend a day or two, floor passes for the Global Gaming Expo (the annual casino industry tradeshow) are $99 through tomorrow and $175 after. It's at the LV convention center between the 16th and 18th, and while it's been less extravagant in this economy it's still a very interesting experience seeing the new products coming down the pipe. I'll be there almost the whole time and there are several other regular readers of this forum whom I'd expect to attend for at least one day.

My colleague, whose a professional dealer from the UK is going along to this... I can't extend sadly (or probably happily... I'm normally done after a 5 days).
